Cloud Database Engineer

Cloud Database Engineer

RESPONSIBILITIES:

• As part of an agile team you install, maintain and optimize Postgres and Oracle Databases to support our internal and customer related projects
• You are responsible for monitoring and operation the databases in high availability configurations
• You are optimazing and tuning SQL queries for Postgres and Oracle
• You taking part in all Database deployments for our customers
• According to ITIL standards, you handle incidents, changes and problems
• You are the interface to the areas of development, vendor management and operations
• With your expertice, you work as a specialist in various project teams
• You are the contact person for database design and code reviews
• You independently acquire knowledge and test and introduce new technologies in the database environment

REQUIREMENTS:

• 6+ years of intensively working with relational databases (PostgreSQL, Oracle)
• Several years of experience with Oracle databases, preferably as an Oracle Certified Professional
• Good practical knowledge of Dev/Ops practices and tools (e.g. scripting, containers, automation, virtualization)
• Experienced in dealing with cloud services and IaaS (preferably AWS)
• Good SQL performance tuning knowledge and skills for Postgres and Oracle
• Monitoring via Oracle Cloud Control, CloudWatch, Grafana
• Experience with complex IT landscapes.
• High customer orientation and service mentality
• Enjoying working in an international team
• You have an agile mindset and as part of a cross-functional team you are open to support other disciplines if needed for the team success
• Good knowledge of Terraform and Kubernetes
• Fluent English (C1)
• Several years of experience with PostgreSQL databases, experience with Aurora Postgres is a plus
• Fluent German (B2+) is a plus
