Expert Systems Administrator (Linux / Windows) - Overlap of 3 hours with Japan
Project overview
We are looking for a very senior Expert Systems Administrator with a strong Linux background and mid-level Windows experience. This role focuses on leading and driving clients’ on-premises business engagements. This is an end-customer-facing, hands-on technical role responsible for designing, deploying, and supporting enterprise-scale solutions in complex end-customer environments. You will serve as the trusted technical advisor for end-customers, bridging Customer Success, R&D, and Product Management, and acting as the voice of the end-customer within the organization. Given the seniority of the role, a high level of autonomy and ownership is expected.
Responsibilities
• Design, operate, and maintain Linux-based systems and services in production environments
• Engage directly with customers to understand their infrastructure, security requirements, and business objectives.
• Serve as the primary technical point of contact for on-premises deployments and upgrades.
• Administer and support Linux servers and related services as a secondary platform
• Drive deployment, integration, and optimization of platforms in customer environments.
• Troubleshoot complex system and network issues across multiple environments • Work directly with end users to understand issues, explain solutions, and provide effective support
• Perform and oversee complex upgrades, migrations, and architecture transformations.
• Participate in post-deployment reviews to ensure reliability, performance, and compliance with best practices.
• Collaborate with networking and security teams on infrastructure-related initiatives
• Represent the voice of the customer to internal teams, influencing roadmap and product decisions.
Requirements
• 10+ years of experience as a Systems Administrator or similar role
• Excellent customer-facing communication skills, capable of translating technical solutions into business value.
• Strong expertise in Linux system administration (production environments)
• Proven ability to design and deliver complex, high-availability enterprise deployments.
• Strong experience in administering Linux server environments, complemented by foundational experience with Windows environments.
• Proven experience with networking concepts (TCP/IP, DNS, DHCP, NAT, routing, firewalls)
• Strong troubleshooting skills across systems and network layers in physical, virtualized and containerized environments
• Scripting experience using Bash and/or Python for automation and tooling
• Experience supporting end users in professional environments
• Ability to work independently and take ownership of complex systems
Nice to Have
• Knowledge of cybersecurity principles and best practices
• Familiarity with monitoring, logging, and alerting solutions
• Working knowledge of cloud and hybrid architecture.
• Experience with DevOps/CI-CD processes for product deployment and upgrades.
