About the Project

You’ll join a multi-country EU initiative focused on building secure, interoperable cloud technologies that strengthen Europe’s digital sovereignty. The work spans cloud-native platforms, automation, and data-security foundations, delivered in a scaled-agile environment with cross-team collaboration (security, AI, platform).

What you’ll do

• Design and build backend services in Go with a strong focus on scalability, reliability, and maintainability.

• Develop infrastructure-level Go components (e.g., operators, automation tooling) to enable hands-off operations.

• Implement and evolve APIs (REST/gRPC/protobuf) and microservices aligned with holistic business requirements.

• Work across cloud layers (virtualization, containerization, networking) to deliver cloud-native solutions.

• Integrate event-driven services (e.g., Kafka) and observability hooks (e.g., Prometheus).

• Own quality end-to-end: testing, code reviews, documentation, secure-by-design practices.

• Collaborate closely with security, platform/AI teams, and product stakeholders; demo solutions regularly.

What you bring

• Bachelor’s/Master’s in CS/Engineering/IT or equivalent practical experience.

• 5–10 years in software engineering with a major focus on Go and cloud services.

• Strong proficiency in several of the following:

  • Cloud-native app development; Kubernetes (ideally operator development).

  • Cloud layers & networking (virtualization, containerization, service networking).

  • API design & implementation (REST, gRPC, protobuf).

  • SQL/NoSQL (PostgreSQL, MySQL/MSSQL, MongoDB).

  • Identity & Access Management (e.g., Keycloak, OIDC/OAuth); bonus for SSI/DID/VC.

  • Concurrency patterns and scheduling in Go.

  • Event-driven integrations (Kafka) and metrics/monitoring (Prometheus).

• Solid Git expertise (branching strategies) and CI/CD (GitLab CI).

• Comfortable working in Jira/Confluence and a scaled-agile setup.

• Clear written and verbal communication in English; German is a plus.

Nice to have

• Experience in regulated or standards-driven environments (EU compliance, security baselines).

• Exposure to multi-tenant, high-throughput systems and performance tuning in Go.
