Responsibilities
System-Level Engineering: Designing, coding, and testing high-performance Assembler (HLASM) modules.
Modernization & Integration: Ensuring that low-level Assembler components communicate effectively with higher-level languages like COBOL, PL/I, or Java.
Performance Forensics: Tuning system performance and resource consumption using tools such as IBM RMF or OMEGAMON.
Critical Support: Debugging and resolving complex system-level issues using advanced diagnostics (e.g., Abend-AID, IBM Debug Tool).
Mentorship: Acting as a technical authority for the mainframe team and sharing knowledge on z/OS internals.
Requirements
Mainframe Stack: Mastery of IBM z/OS environments, including MVS, CICS, and DB2.
Language Expertise: Expert-level knowledge of Assembler (HLASM) and its interaction with the operating system.
Tooling: Experience with performance monitoring and debugging tools specific to the IBM Z platform.
Architecture: Deep understanding of memory management, registers, and instruction sets.
