Senior Software Developer

Job Overview

This role will work as Senior Software Developer in an Agile Software Development team, as a key contributor in projects across the Blue Zinc product suite. The role will be expected to take responsibility for delivering projects as the lead engineer on a small team within the wider engineering group. The role will also contribute to ongoing processes of continuous improvement, of both the quality and execution of the product, and our internal processes.   

Your responsibilities will include, but not be limited to:

Software Development 

• Development of software, to include design, analysis, documentation, coding and testing where applicable. 
• Participating in code reviews and pair programming exercises 
• Solve problems and fix bugs in new and existing software applications  

Client Consultancy 

• Liaising with potential and actual clients with regard to Blue Zinc software products 

Client Software Deployment 

• Implementation and documentation of software deployment 

Technical Documentation 

• Taking working applications, and new requirements and documenting all aspects as required. To include design specifications, support documentation, and tester documentation. 
• Maintaining all documentation to ensure it is up to date 

General 

• From time to time you will be asked to carry out short, one off jobs outside of the above. 

Required Skills & Experience

Candidates must meet all of the following:

• Minimum 5 years hands-on experience designing, building, and deploying modern full-stack web applications
• Minimum 3 years frontend experience using React, TypeScript, TailwindCSS, Vite
• Ability to write modular, maintainable, component-based UIs
• Strong understanding of responsive design and accessibility best practices
• Minimum 3 years backend experience building .NET Core / .NET 6+ REST APIs
• Experience with authentication, validation, error handling, and layered architecture
• Demonstrated technical ownership of a project or product:
• Can articulate decisions from design through to production
• Comfortable working with stakeholders to define scope, deliverables, and architecture
• Proven ability to debug and support applications post-deployment

Desired skills & experience

• Relevant Degree Qualification
• SQL Server, Redis or similar data 
• DevOps – e.g Gitlab CI/CD, Kubernetes etc
• Cloud - e.g GCP, AWS
• Observability – e.g. Sentry, New Relic etc
• AI tooling experience – (Copilot, ChatGPT and others)
