Team/role overview:
The Big Data Scientist will be responsible for conducting analysis of financial monitoring system within Anti Money Laundering program in Citi. The Incumbent will work in a team of statisticians with global team across the globe and execute complex statistical analysis to discover and classify patterns of money flows. This is an opportunity to work in a Big Data environment, have a chance to create and implement a new project in Citi, and practice your English on everyday basis. This is a position for those who know how to apply quantitative methods, know programming language (SQL and Python or R or SAS), want to develop their competencies and grow their careers in a global company in a team of experts.
This position requires ability to execute complex statistical analyses, data visualizations and algorithm simulations. A background in advanced statistical techniques and statistical programming will be an advantage. Requirements include programming experience with data analysis, data processing and statistical tools (SQL, Python/R/SAS). Fluency in English and very good written and verbal communication skills are necessary.
What you'll do:
- Conduct data-driven analyses and reports; apply qualitative and quantitative data analysis methods; prepare statistical and non-statistical data exploration within Anti Money Laundering (AML) program in Citi.
- Apply statistical methods to organize, analyze, and interpret data related to AML monitoring scenarios and thresholds.
- Provide data pulls and reports directly from Oracle database and big data environment. Write SQL queries in large database environment.
- Detect data anomalies and conduct deep dives to identify source of those anomalies. Recommend data driven solutions to address those anomalies.
- Use visualization techniques to display data and the results of analysis in clear presentations that can be understood by non-technical readers.
- Provide technical support to the team by implementing automation tools on Oracle Database and Python, R or SAS.
- Design technical solutions supporting complex data reporting and analytical tasks. Generate graphical data reports, including data cross-tables, scatter plots and statistical measures.
What we'll need from you:
- Master's or Bachelor's degree in technical science/mathematics/statistics/quantitative methods (degree in economics/banking may be considered if strong analytical skills are demonstrated)
- 3-5 years’ experience in analyzing large datasets and in data mining
- Programming and statistical/data analytical experience using SQL and Python/R/SAS
- Initiative, creativity and attention to details
- Consistently demonstrates clear and concise written and verbal communication skills
- Self-motivated and detail oriented
- Comfortable interfacing with business clients
