Our Backend Engineering team plays a pivotal role in ensuring the robustness, speed, and security of our Product. Dedicated to enhancing performance, providing a best-in-class user experience, ensuring compliance, and safeguarding data, the team's efforts directly impact our ability to offer clients a seamless and secure trading journey.

We are seeking a hands-on Team Lead for one of the teams in our Payments domain to lead and mentor a distributed team of engineers developing and optimizing high-performance payment solutions. This role involves actively contributing to coding and architecture while ensuring the security, efficiency, and compliance of our payment systems, with a particular focus on bank acquiring and processing. The ideal candidate is both a strong people leader and a capable hands-on developer, passionate about building scalable and resilient systems.

Experience & Domain Knowledge:

• Team Leadership: Commercial professional experience in a team lead role, managing an engineering team
• Scalability & Performance: Experience in building and optimizing high-performance, distributed systems
• Operational Excellence: Hands-on experience in incident management, troubleshooting, and monitoring of production systems
• Work Breakdown & Dependency Management: Experience in Jira, backlog grooming, and sprint planning

Technical skills:

• Backend Development: Expert in Java 17+, Spring Boot, and microservices architecture
• Database Management: Strong SQL skills, particularly with PostgreSQL
• Asynchronous Processing: Experience with Kafka or similar event-driven architectures
• Cloud & Infrastructure: Hands-on experience with AWS, Docker or similar cloud native container based set up
• Testing & Code Quality: Proficiency in unit testing, integration testing, and best coding practices with the aim of automating testing activities

Soft Skills:

• Mentorship & Team Building: Experience in mentoring and onboarding engineers, conducting code reviews, and promoting best engineering practices
• Strong Communication: Ability to engage with stakeholders, security teams, and product teams effectively
• Ownership & Accountability: Willingness to take end-to-end responsibility for delivery
• Analytical Thinking: Ability to break down complex problems and provide efficient solutions
• Adaptability: Capable of working in a fast-paced environment with evolving requirements

Nice to have:

• Payments & Fintech Expertise: Prior experience in FinTech, Banking, or Payment Systems is beneficial
