AI Solutions Architect

Sitting between strategy, architecture, and delivery, this role is about designing AI solutions that are technically sound, secure, and actually land in the organisation. With a mix of enterprise architecture, applied AI, and stakeholder engagement, you’ll help clients move from “AI initiatives” to coherent, end-to-end solutions built on solid data and platform foundations.

AI Solutions Architect

Calimala partners with enterprises across the Gulf and Europe to design, build, and scale Data & AI teams. As an AI Solutions Architect, you’ll join a network of practitioners who understand both the possibilities of modern AI (LLMs, ML, intelligent automation) and the realities of integrating them into existing systems, processes, and risk frameworks.

This role sits at the intersection of business problems, data platforms, and AI capabilities. You’ll shape solution architectures that combine LLMs, ML models, integration patterns, and user-facing applications—making sure they align with client standards, fit within existing landscapes, and can be operated reliably over time.

What you'll be doing

As an AI Solutions Architect at Calimala, you’ll lead and support engagements where AI is central to the outcome. One project might involve designing a retrieval-augmented LLM solution on top of a data platform; another could focus on defining the reference architecture for a portfolio of AI use cases, including security, governance, and integration patterns.

You’ll work closely with sponsors, product owners, data and platform teams to understand requirements, map dependencies, and choose the right combination of services and components. You’ll produce architecture views, integration patterns, and non-functional requirements, and you’ll stay involved through delivery—supporting teams as designs are implemented and adjusted.

Who we're looking for

You’re comfortable moving between whiteboard sessions with senior stakeholders and detailed discussions with engineers. You can evaluate trade-offs between different AI approaches, vendors, and architectures, and you have a strong instinct for what will be robust, maintainable, and compliant in an enterprise setting.

You’ve likely worked as an architect, lead engineer, or technical owner on data, analytics, or AI-heavy solutions. • Strong experience designing solutions in Data, Analytics, or AI/ML contexts in enterprise or consulting environments

• Solid understanding of modern AI patterns, including LLM-based applications (RAG, copilots, summarisation, classification, intelligent search) and traditional ML

• Familiarity with data platform components (warehouses, lakes/lakehouses, streaming, metadata/governance) and how AI solutions build on them

• Experience with integration and application patterns: APIs, microservices, event-driven architectures, and security considerations

• Practical experience with at least one major cloud platform (Azure, AWS, or GCP) and its AI/ML services, plus awareness of vendor and open-source LLM ecosystems

• Ability to produce clear architecture artefacts (diagrams, views, decisions, NFRs) and communicate them to both technical and non-technical audiences

• Awareness of AI governance, risk, and compliance themes (privacy, data residency, explainability, safety, human-in-the-loop patterns)
