Senior Software Engineer RPG/AS400

In this position, you are responsible for conceptualizing and developing RPG applications for the business domain as described in the functional and business analysis and based on the needs formulated by the users.

Your role is to provide uninterrupted operations of core systems and applications in mutual insurance companies in Belgium.

Requirements:

• 5+ years of experience in IBM: understanding of RPG3 and RPG4; Programming in RPG ILEn(free-form); embedded SQL; KL; knowledge of MQ series
• Bachelor's or master's degree in computer science
• Knowledge of new technologies and vision for new architectures to offer new technical and architectural solutions
• Proficient communication in English in an international work environment
• Ability to work independently as well as in a team
• Strong analytical skills and ability to communicate smoothly with technical and non-technical teams

Nice to have:

• Knowledge of Agile methodologies will be a plus for this position.
• Familiarity with Jira will also be a plus

Key Tasks:

• Translating functional and business analysis into application design and architecture
• Working as part of a development team to develop applications in an established format and according to established quality standards
• Creating software documentation according to established quality standards
• Reporting potential problems and risks to functional analysts, proposing the optimal solution to achieve the best result
• Assessing and anticipating the impact of potential changes on software modules and reporting any potential problems.
• Ensuring that application documentation is maintained
