Our Warsaw office is an incredibly exciting addition to our EMEA expansion. We're already in the UK, France, and Germany, and the new Poland location is a global engineering and product development hub alongside our headquarters in Redwood City, California.

Box is looking for visionary technical leaders for our engineering teams in Warsaw, who will lead, inspire, and mentor engineers, while bridging communication between the US and Poland engineering hubs, and fostering a positive and collaborative work environment. The engineering manager role at Box involves spearheading significant technology initiatives, overseeing the entire lifecycle of projects across multiple architectural layers. Your knowledge can be vital for improving Box product and solving exciting challenges related to Cloud Content Management.
We are currently looking for leaders for the following teams:
The Filesystem team is the backbone of the Box platform - not just a file system, but the core service powering nearly every Box feature. It supports content access for internal and external clients, serving millions of users and tens of thousands of businesses, including most of the Fortune 500. Operating at millions of requests per second, it secures hundreds of billions of content items with an advanced permissions system and enables the collaboration features that define Box. As Box drives the future of content management, evolving the Filesystem is critical to that vision.
The Relay team is expanding rapidly as we build new features and integrations to enhance our core product. We are focused on adding AI-driven automation powered by our Agentic platform, creating an orchestration platform that drives business workflows within Box, and serving as an automation hub for processes beyond Relay. As our team in Poland grows, we are looking for a seasoned engineer who can take ownership of large system components and work independently. In this role, you will directly impact millions of users worldwide who rely on Relay every day to streamline their workflows.
The Search & Query team is a foundational components of the Box Content Cloud, enabling customers to organize and discover business critical content. The Query Infra team powers both these features, while also powering multiple discovery experiences in our first party products like Box Hubs, Box Apps, Box Relay and more. This team handles a tremendous amount of scale and complexity, with both continuing to grow on a daily basis. The criticality of this area has grown exponentially with the advent of generative AI, and as we embark on the mission to deliver a next-generation Box for Intelligent Content Management, we're looking for a Engineering Manager to come join us and play a pivotal role. You will have the opportunity to lead a team of talented, collaborative and fun engineers, solving some of the toughest challenges, as we build out the future of content management in the cloud. The work you do will have an immediate impact on the productivity of millions of users, at some of the most important enterprises of our time.
Your expertise is essential to our journey in shaping tomorrow's content management landscape!
Who you are:
Ideally, you have over 2 years of experience as a software engineering manager, leading teams responsible for high-scale production services.
You possess at least 5 years of professional software development experience, contributing to the development of full-stack web applications and/or distributed systems.
You excel at aligning and executing new technical ideas, demonstrating an understanding of best practices.
Proven experience in driving effective execution with agile processes in a dynamic environment.
A people-oriented leader, capable of modelling and fostering a collaborative and inclusive culture.
Exceptional at communicating, passionate about technology and committed to raising the bar.
Experience working with distributed teams across different time zones is advantageous.
Proficient in English.
Bonus Points:
Hands-on experience designing and building cloud-native architecture for AWS, GCP, or similar.
Passion for open source and staying abreast of community developments.
Responsibilities:
Lead a team of experienced engineers in Poland.
Define the team's roadmap, execution plans, and take ownership of project delivery.
Develop team members through 1:1s, career planning, coaching discussions, and hiring.
Uphold values by building a collaborative, inclusive team focused on customer impact.
Cultivate a culture of excellence through emphasis on execution, quality, and scale.
Organize stand-ups, sprint planning, technical discussions, and manage sprint task statuses.
Collaborate with product teams to scope new features, provide project estimates, and inform quarterly commitments.
Work with cross-functional partners and stakeholders to ensure the team delivers significant business impact.
