AI/ML Software Engineer (R&D)

Are you an ML or AI engineer who actually wants to see your models used by real users, not just sitting in notebooks? Curious how foundation models, LLMs and modern MLOps can power both internal tools and consumer streaming experiences? This role lets you own the full journey: from rough AI concept or POC, through solid prototype, all the way to production-grade components running in the ORS IT-Services environment. You will work hands-on with Python, ML frameworks and cloud platforms, designing and maintaining ML workflows that are reliable, observable and ready for scale.

You will collaborate closely with an AI Solution Architect, help shape technical architecture and feasibility, and have a big say in how AI capabilities grow across the organization. If you like ownership, experimentation and turning high level AI ideas into clean, working systems, this is your playground. You’ll collaborate with our Austrian branch, which means occasional trips to Austria (up to 3 times per year) to get face time with the team and join in-person workshops.

What you’ll actually be doing?

This isn’t a pure research role lost in theory. You’ll be taking real ML models and making them work in real products:

• Turning AI concepts and PoCs into working prototypes and production ready ML services that can run in production.

• Designing and maintaining ML pipelines for data preparation, training, evaluation and inference, mostly in a cloud environment.

• Integrating LLMs, vision or retrieval based models into existing platforms, APIs and business processes.

• Evaluating model quality with benchmarks and monitoring in production, then iterating to make models more accurate, robust and efficient.

• Working closely with the AI Solution Architect on feasibility, architecture and estimations, and documenting your models and pipelines so the rest of the team can build on them.

What we’re looking for:

• At least 3 years of hands-on experience in ML or AI, covering the full workflow from data preparation through training, evaluation and deployment.

• Strong Python skills plus practical experience with modern ML frameworks like PyTorch or TensorFlow and working with real models in production.

• Experience building and maintaining ML pipelines and services in the cloud (AWS preferred, e.g. SageMaker, Bedrock, S3, Lambda) and integrating them with existing backends or APIs.

• Previous work with foundation models (LLMs, vision or diffusion models) or retrieval-based setups like vector databases and RAG pipelines.

• A product mindset: you care about model quality, benchmarking, monitoring and turning prototypes into stable, reliable components.

• A proactive, collaborative way of working, strong analytical thinking, and the ability to translate high-level AI ideas into concrete technical tasks.
