Information architect
Emilii Plater 53, Warszawa
BEC Financial Technologies
BEC is a financial technology company creating IT solutions for Danish banks. Together, we enable their customers to invest online, take out loans and transfer money. In other words, everything it takes to run a bank.
We have 1,700+ employees spread across five locations in Denmark and Poland. We collaborate in a flat hierarchy with a high degree of mutual trust. Here, great ideas have no rank, and we invite everybody to chip in to create the strongest banking solutions for Danish society.
Information architect
The position is based in our Warsaw (Poland) office where you will join our Information Architecture team, which is part of BEC’s Architecture division. The team develops a holistic view uniting perspectives.
Information Architecture aims to create a common understanding of the kinds of things involved in our business, their properties and their relationships. Through this understanding, we enable different organisational communities of practice to properly understand how their software and data needs fit into the enterprise whole, which is the basis of removing dependencies and duplication.
We work in a hybrid remote model, coming into the office at least 3 days a week with the option of working remotely for 2 days. Your direct manager will be the head of Information Architecture, David Holling.
Primary tasks and responsibilities include
As an Information Architect you will work closely with colleagues across BEC throughout the demand / delivery process. The primary collaboration is with Data Stewards and Enterprise Data Architects, but also strong connection to business experts, API Centre of Excellence, and enterprise and domain architects.
Your primary tasks and responsibilities will include:
Defining Information Architecture principles, standards and guidelines
Developing and maintaining an information landscape and parts of the information model used in Enterprise Architecture’s activities to precisely scope domains and factories
Leading early initiative analysis to scope and understand proposed change
Supporting and maturing Data Stewards in their information model development and API specification responsibilities
Securing that new integrations reflect proper information segregation realised in the Factory landscape and remove dependencies and duplication
Contributing to the different information and data communities and governance bodies (both as participant and owner).
To succeed you will have
A master’s degree in information management, computer science or a related field of study. Due to the semantic nature of our framework, we are also open to other specialisms (e.g. Librarian, Philosophy, Linguistics) having a deep understanding of how information perspectives determine, and are realised in, data stores and software.
Since we are looking for an experienced profile, you will also have:
At least 5 years of documented experience in a relevant information architecture role, preferably within a financial services enterprise. Previous experience with working with a truly semantic-based information approach to partition complexity and scope composable interfaces is a clear advantage
An ability to precisely distinguish and communicate the difference between information and data
An ability to work constructively and inclusively with different communities of practice having multiple world-views, vocabularies or terminologies
An ability to creatively lead immature stakeholders unfamiliar with an information-driven approach, and work alongside, and within, a software-focused delivery organisation
Deep knowledge of Ontology, information and data models and how they relate
Knowledge of specifying information-based efficient Services / interfaces, their practical realisation, and hard link to the traditional data world
Practical modelling skills covering many repository tools, frameworks and standards, although a deep understanding of SysML / UML and Mega Hopex is a plus
Excellent team player and an effective communicator, whose nature is outgoing and relationship-building
With colleagues in teams distributed across Denmark and Poland, you must be fluent in spoken and written English.
