Middleware Engineer (IBM MQ & IIB/ACE)

We are seeking an experienced Middleware Engineer to manage and support IBM MQ and IIB / ACE middleware environments within a complex banking infrastructure. The successful candidate will be responsible for ensuring secure, reliable, and high-performance message flow across multiple financial applications. This position requires on-call support every second week to maintain operational continuity and respond to critical incidents.

The role is fully remote.

Responsibilities:

• Administer, configure, and maintain IBM MQ and IIB / ACE environments across multiple platforms and environments (development, testing, production).

• Monitor system performance, availability, and message flow to ensure stability and resilience of integration services.

• Troubleshoot and resolve issues related to messaging queues, channels, brokers, and integration components.

• Support deployments, upgrades, and patches of middleware components while minimizing downtime and risk.

• Implement and maintain security policies, certificates, and access controls for MQ/IIB infrastructure.

• Collaborate with application, network, and security teams to ensure seamless communication between systems.

• Provide on-call support every second week to handle production incidents and ensure continuous service availabity.

Requirements:

MQ

• Strong experience with IBM MQ clusters, installation, migration, and configuration

• Ability to set up new MQ environments for project delivery

• Solid knowledge of RDQM installation, configuration, and maintenance

• Skilled in diagnosing MQ issues, troubleshooting, and providing RCA

• Experience with MQ SSL certificate setup and management

• Familiar with MQ tools (MQMON,RFHUTIL)

• Understanding of messaging concepts (pub/sub, point-to-point) and MQ objects

• Knowledge of ITIL processes and handling SRs, incidents, changes, and problems within SLA

• Ability to produce technical documentation and support deployments

IIB / ACE

• Support for IIB/ACE environments on Linux/Solaris

• Support for deployed message flows

• Ability to set up new IIB/ACE environments

• Experience with SOAP/REST APIs and XML/JSON

• Familiar with SSL/TLS and certificate configurations

• Hands-on experience with message flow development and support

• Proficiency in ESQL, Java, and integration patterns.
