Cyber Security Engineer Network Security
Designs, implements, and operates cybersecurity solutions for Bayer’s systems and products in compliance with Bayer’s applicable security policies and standards. Works closely with IT teams and internal and external business partners to ensure security is integrated throughout hardware and software lifecycles.
Key Taks and Responsibilities:
- Design, implement, and maintain cybersecurity solutions for Bayer’s systems and products.
- Ensure compliance with Bayer’s security policies and standards.
- Work with IT teams and business partners to integrate security into hardware/software evaluation, selection, installation, and configuration.
- Maintain operational efficiency, performance, and reliability of security systems.
- Integrate security systems into IT service management and incident response processes.
- Analyze and recommend improvements for network, system, and application architectures.
- Assist in the review and update of cybersecurity policies, architectures, and standards.
- Assist in responding to audits, penetration tests, and vulnerability assessments.
- Design and implement secure infrastructure solutions such as network security, configuration management, storage security, and IAM (Identity and Access Management).
- Conduct regular security assessments to identify vulnerabilities and potential risks.
- Install and operate firewalls, encryption programs, and other security software.
- Promote best practices for information security.
- Investigate incidents and respond to events in real-time.
- Monitor network traffic for security incidents.
- Act as the primary contact for IT colleagues regarding troubleshooting and connectivity issues.
- Provide on-call services when needed.
- Support local stakeholders in network and firewall lifecycle activities, including regular reviews and updates to firewall rules.
- Build and maintain relationships with teams, business units, and stakeholders.
- Communicate status and follow up on technical cases until closure.
- Operate interfaces to connected systems like Nagios and Algosec.
Qualifications & Competencies (education, skills, experience):
- BS or MA in Computer Science, Cybersecurity, or a related field (equivalent relevant experience will also be considered).
- Relevant experience in cybersecurity, with prior experience in a security engineering role highly desired.
- Certified Information Systems Security Professional (CISSP) is preferred, but not required.
- First experience with cybersecurity tools and techniques to automate security tasks, streamline incident response, and improve security posture.
- Experience with security standards and regulations (e.g., PCI DSS, HIPAA) and the ability to assess and implement compliance controls.
- Applied experience in at least one of the following areas: Network Management, Cloud Security, CheckPoint Firewalls
- Ability to understand and apply the organization’s mission, values, and goals in daily work.
