BI Developer
Are you an experienced Power BI Developer ready to make a significant impact in business intelligence? Bayer IT is seeking a dedicated professional to join our innovative Data Assets, Analytics, and AI Platform. In this role, you will collaborate closely with our data and analytics team to design, develop, and maintain reusable semantic models and interactive dashboards using the latest Power BI features.
You will leverage Lakehouse backends, implement row-level security, and adhere to modelling best practices while ensuring end-to-end functionality of the solutions you create. We are looking for a motivated individual who understands best practices in data visualization and can effectively partner with our Product Manager throughout the analytics solution development process.
Key Tasks and Responsibilities:
- Design, develop, and maintain interactive Power BI dashboards and reports based on business requirements.
- Build and operate reusable semantic models and DAX measures to support reporting needs.
- Engage with data architects to ensure proper data preparation and integration in the backend for Power BI consumption.
- Integrate data from multiple sources, including SQL Server, Excel, SharePoint, and cloud-based sources.
- Ensure data model stability and optimize performance for end-users.
- Troubleshoot issues related to data integrity, DAX logic, and report rendering.
- Conduct data validation and quality assurance to ensure report accuracy.
- Document technical specifications, data sources, processes, models, and dashboards for ongoing support and knowledge sharing within the team.
- Collaborate with business analysts, stakeholders, and IT teams to understand reporting needs.
Qualifications and Competencies:
- Minimum of 3 years of experience working with Power BI, Tableau is a plus.
- Strong ability to visualize data clearly and effectively.
- Excellent communication and teamwork skills.
- Understanding SQL for querying databases and integrating data sources. Familiarity with PostgreSQL is a plus..
- Proficient in English for effective collaboration with cross-functional teams.
- Strong understanding of ETL processes and data modelling concepts (e.g., star schemas, normalization).
- Experience with Power BI Service for publishing, sharing, and collaborating on reports.
- Advanced knowledge of Data Analysis Expressions (DAX) for creating complex calculations and measures.
- Knowledge of version control systems like Git.
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field (or equivalent experience).
- Attention to detail, ensuring polished, user-friendly dashboards that are both functional and visually appealing.
Nice to Have:
- Familiarity with design tools like Figma.
- Certifications in Power BI or Databricks.
- Experience with Azure Data Factory and other Azure analytics services.
- Familiarity with DevOps methodologies and CI/CD tools (Git, Azure DevOps).
