Software Engineer

About the role

Appfire is looking for a talented professional Software Engineer to help us build tools that bring IT Service Management (ITSM) to a new level: defining and tracking SLAs, enhancing Jira workflows and configuration, managing assets, and integrating everything together through REST APIs. Our products are used by thousands of companies from various industries to make their ITSM processes a piece of art. You will report to one of our Managers and be a member of the IT Service Management team.

You can work remotely from any location in Poland.

Your everyday tasks will include:

• Join a self-organizing, cross-functional product team and cooperate closely with other Software Engineers, Product Managers, Team Leaders, and other specialists like Product marketers or Support Engineers.
• Design, build, and maintain efficient and scalable TypeScript / React, Node.js, and Java-based applications.
• Follow and establish the best engineering practices: automated testing, code reviews, pair programming, and YBIYRI (you built it you run it).
• Benefit from the seamless access to the Support team, quick feedback, and direct communication with our customers.
• Share your thoughts openly and honestly on what would be the best for the customers and the business: you will be part of discussions about the future of our products and Appfire.
• Decide freely about your day and assignments - we do not micromanage people and we do care about work & life balance.
• Be the change you seek - if you see that something can be improved, suggest how and make it happen (alone or by engaging your colleagues).

Skills and experience you'll need to succeed:

• Proven record (3+ years) of delivery of multiple complex software development projects or products.
• Hands-on experience with JavaScript or TypeScript coupled with strong Node.js skills.
• Willingness to learn and use multiple technologies (frontend and backend).
• Truly engineering approach to solving problems. Good theoretical foundations of computer science (e.g. algorithms and computational complexity, OOP) are super practical in the ever-changing landscape of technologies.
• Strong architectural understanding of web applications, including performance, quality, and security aspects.
• Good understanding of modern Cloud architectures, and practical experience implementing them in AWS or GCP.
• Ability to decompose complex problems into well-described, realistic estimate tasks.
• Command of English at level B2 or higher;
• Experience with Java and its frameworks (e.g. Spring: MVC, Boot, Data, etc.) is nice to have.
• Experience in defining test cases and writing automation would be an advantage.
