Senior Solution Architect
Location: Poland (Hybrid Work Model from Kraków or Warszawa)
We are looking for an experienced Senior Solution Architect to join our client, a global financial institution. This role is an excellent opportunity to work on cutting-edge technology solutions that drive key business services.
- Ensure that products and services are supported by the right architectures, solutions, and data models that meet customer needs.
- Design cost-effective product solutions and data models while managing the backlog of design activities throughout the agile development lifecycle.
- Work with DevOps Engineers to resolve operational issues (data/solution enhancements, performance optimization, design defects, etc.).
- Translate business requirements into actionable product/service technology solutions and influence service direction.
- Ensure solutions align with the platform’s data and solution architecture, organizational standards, and enterprise architecture.
- Obtain approvals from technical design and control authorities for solution and data designs.
- Collaborate with architects and DevOps teams to establish best practices in data and solution architecture with clear documentation.
- Participate in governance activities to review solutions and data model designs, manage documentation, and oversee use case implementations.
- Define and communicate commercially aware architecture designs for data solutions according to governance frameworks.
- Work closely with engineering teams and stakeholders to align project requirements with group standards, IT, and business strategy.
- Provide analysis of solution choices, benefits, and challenges.
- Identify operational and delivery risks.
- Govern architecture design, implement standards, and establish target operating models for IT activities.
- Develop and support integration standards, patterns, strategies, roadmaps, and architectures.
- Ensure architecture compliance with requirements, approved technologies, best practices, and enterprise strategies.
- University degree in Computer Science, IT, or a related field, preferably with a major in Software/System Engineering.
- Minimum of 8 years in data engineering/architecture and at least 5 years in data modeling.
- Strong knowledge of the banking industry.
- Expertise in data architecture, including data modeling (conceptual/logical/physical), transactional vs. analytical database solution design, ETLs, and data-related non-functional requirements (e.g., backup, archiving, performance optimization).
- Strong stakeholder management skills to communicate technical concepts effectively in English to business and technical audiences.
- Analytical skills to assess design effectiveness, identify limitations, and support decision-making based on facts and business value.
- Self-motivated to expand knowledge and skills beyond data architecture.
- Ability to inspire teams to continuously improve designs and best practices.
- Excellent interpersonal, communication, and presentation skills.
- Data warehousing experience, including Kimball and Inmon methodologies.
- Strong technical knowledge of Big Data technologies and open-source tools:
- Experience with Python/Scala and Spark
- Understanding of HDP ecosystem, HDFS file formats (Avro, Parquet, ORC, JSON)
- SQL query optimization in Hive (Tez, SparkSQL, MapReduce)
- Knowledge of public cloud platforms (Google, AWS, Azure):
- Data processing, DevOps experience, and data modeling (relational, dimensional)
- Strong background in data warehousing technologies (Oracle, Teradata, DB2).
- Experience with metadata management techniques.
- Proficiency in BI tools such as Tableau, QlikView, and QlikSense.
- Familiarity with design tools (EA, Archimate, UML, IDA).
- Understanding of SDLC/Agile methodologies.
- A proactive, can-do attitude with a willingness to embrace new challenges.
- Understanding of banking operations and domain knowledge.
- Hands-on experience in data modeling tools such as Erwin and IDA.
- Project-based experience.
- At least 1 year of experience in GCP/Alicloud.
- Fluency in English and Mandarin is strongly preferred.
- Knowledge of architectural or governance frameworks (TOGAF, IFW, etc.).
- Exposure to data processing architecture design, such as Lambda.
- Experience with unstructured data solutions (NoSQL databases, graph databases, in-memory databases, etc.).
- Exposure to microservices architecture and solutions (APIs, Publish/Subscribe, Message Queues, Kubernetes-hosted solutions, etc.).
- Familiarity with programming models/frameworks (Spark, Apache Beam, Spring Boot).
