Software Architect Tech Lead

Andersen is hiring a Software Architect / Tech Lead to design and drive a scalable e-commerce architecture, translating business strategy into modern, high-performance technical solutions.

The project is focused on building and evolving a modern e-commerce ecosystem by translating business strategy into scalable technical architecture. It involves leading framework-agnostic decisions around modern meta-frameworks (such as Next.js or Nuxt) and guiding the team through implementation to ensure technical excellence and long-term scalability. 

Responsibilities: 

• Defining and evolving the technical architecture for our e-commerce platform, with a focus on migrating from monolithic systems to a modern headless architecture. 

• Leading the technical strategy for replatforming from a complex legacy system to a modern commerce platform, ensuring minimal business disruption and maintaining feature parity where needed. 

• Contributing to framework selection decisions, evaluating Next.js vs. Nuxt based on project requirements, team expertise, platform integration capabilities, and long-term scalability. 

• Making and justifying architectural decisions based on business constraints, scalability requirements, and long-term maintainability. 

• Designing architecture with cost efficiency in mind, leveraging platform capabilities to reduce infrastructure complexity and operational overhead. 

• Translating architectural vision into actionable tasks, mentoring developers in modern web practices, establishing coding standards and design patterns. 

• Serving as the primary technical liaison between business stakeholders and the development team, ensuring alignment between technical solutions and business objectives. 

• Working closely with Project Managers to break down complex initiatives into deliverable milestones and ensure timely execution. 

• Leading discovery and planning sessions for new features, including SSR/ISR strategies, edge computing approaches, and performance optimization. 

   

Must-haves: 

• Experience with production-scale Next.js, Nuxt, or comparable modern meta-frameworks (Remix, SvelteKit), including deep expertise in SSR, ISR, routing strategies, and caching patterns – 3+ years. 

• Experience building production applications with React or Vue using modern JavaScript/TypeScript, with a focus on depth rather than a specific library – 5+ years. 

• Proven experience leading migrations from legacy/custom-built e-commerce systems to modern headless platforms. 

• Experience architecting within platform constraints and designing integrations with third party services (payments, fulfillment, marketing tools, etc.). 

• Strong proficiency with TypeScript, modern build tools (Vite, Turbopack, Webpack), and utility-first CSS frameworks (Tailwind CSS). 

• Experience with modern edge platforms (Vercel, Netlify, Cloudflare) including deployment, configuration, and Core Web Vitals optimization. 

• Track record leading technical teams through complex migrations and mentoring developers. 

• Level of English – from Upper-Intermediate and above. 

 Nice-to-haves:  

• Experience with both React and Vue ecosystems, demonstrating framework-agnostic thinking and adaptability. 

• Experience evaluating and choosing frameworks based on business requirements, team capabilities, and long-term maintainability. 

• Deep expertise with routing strategies, caching patterns, React Server Components or Vue Server Components, and streaming patterns. 

• Experience designing and implementing serverless functions and edge computing solutions. 

• Ability to quickly understand unfamiliar codebases, extract business logic from legacy systems, and translate requirements into modern architecture patterns. 

• Experience with phased rollout approaches, feature flags, parallel-run strategies, and rollback planning to ensure business continuity during platform transitions. 

• Expertise modern state management patterns and libraries (Zustand, Jotai, Pinia, React Query/TanStack Query). 

• Hands-on experience with enterprise e-commerce platforms. 

• Demonstrated success improving Core Web Vitals and page performance in production environments. 

• Experience using generative AI tools to accelerate development workflows. 

• Implementation experience with NextAuth.js, Nuxt Auth, or similar frameworks, including understanding of OAuth2 flows, session management, and secure token handling. 

• Strong testing practices (Jest, Vitest, Playwright) and experience with CI/CD pipelines. 

• Experience designing and implementing and securing RESTful and GraphQL APIs.
