Job description

Andersen is hiring a BI Developer in Germany to support a major public-sector analytics initiative, modernizing legacy data systems and building secure, scalable BI platforms for improved reporting and decision-making. 

 

The customer is a large international technology provider delivering end-to-end digital solutions for enterprise-level organizations. The company focuses on IT consulting, cloud services, cybersecurity, and managed operations, supporting clients across various industries with complex digital-transformation needs. With decades of experience, the customer emphasizes innovation, reliability, and high security standards. 

 

The project is a large-scale BI and data-analytics initiative in the European public sector, aimed at modernizing government services through centralized reporting and data-driven decision-making. It focuses on transforming legacy data systems into secure, scalable analytics platforms that support efficient and transparent digital public administration. 

 

Responsibilities: 

  • Developing, maintaining, and optimizing ETL/ELT pipelines for data ingestion, transformation, and loading.  

  • Designing and maintaining analytical data models to support reporting and BI use cases.  

  • Analyzing data sources, defining data requirements, and ensuring data quality and consistency.  

  • Monitoring and improving the performance of ETL processes and database queries.  

  • Validating, profiling, and cleansing data as part of data quality initiatives.  

  • Working with DWH/Data Lake environments and contributing to architectural improvements.  

  • Building dashboards, reports, KPIs, and visual analytics using BI platforms.  

  • Collaborating with business analysts and stakeholders to gather reporting and analytics requirements.  

  • Producing technical documentation, data dictionaries, process maps, and design specifications.  

  • Participating in testing, deployment, and release activities for BI components.  

  • Providing support to end users and investigating data- or report-related incidents. 

 

Must-haves: 

  • Experience in BI development and working with enterprise DWH/ETL environments for 5+ years.  

  • Strong SQL skills, including complex queries, performance tuning, and window functions.  

  • Hands-on experience building ETL/ELT pipelines using tools such as Informatica, SSIS, Talend, Pentaho, dbt, or similar.  

  • Solid understanding of data modelling techniques, including star schema, snowflake, SCD, normalization, and denormalization.  

  • Knowledge of DWH architectures and data platforms such as DWH, Data Lake, and Lakehouse.  

  • Experience integrating data from multiple sources, including databases, APIs, files, and cloud services.  

  • Ability to develop dashboards, analytical reports, KPIs, and metrics for business stakeholders.  

  • Experience optimizing ETL pipelines and SQL query performance.  

  • Understanding of data quality, data lineage, and data governance practices.  

  • Familiarity with a scripting language for automation or data processing (Python or R preferred).  

  • Experience using Git and CI/CD practices for BI/ETL workflows.  

  • Proficiency with BI platforms such as Power BI, Tableau, Qlik, or Looker.  

  • Level of English – from Intermediate+ and above.  

  • Level of German – from Intermediate+ and above.
