Affirm is reinventing credit to make it more honest and friendly, giving consumers the flexibility to buy now and pay later without any hidden fees or compounding interest.

We are in search of an action-oriented and analytically inclined data professional to join the Financial Systems organization. Financial Systems is responsible for the data and reporting for the Accounting team, as well as our third party accounting applications. We are embarking on an initiative to establish a single-source-of-truth of financial information, leveraging dbt & Snowflake, in order to facilitate BI & process automation throughout the org.

This role is primarily suited for candidates with strong data skills, particularly with experience in the design and creation of ETLs and SQL-based relational database structures. The ideal candidate will not only have superb technical skills but also strong interpersonal skills and the ability to take a leading role in driving our data and reporting capabilities to the next level.

    What You'll Do

    • Design and deliver relational and non-relational database models, data pipelines, reporting and visualization solutions by supporting all phases of the analytics development life cycle (ADLC), including requirements gathering, design, development, testing and deployment
    • Recognize and adopt best practices in data warehousing, reporting, and analysis: data integrity, test design, analysis, validation, and documentation
    • Own and document data pipelines and data lineage
    • Identify and troubleshoot data-related and reporting production issues
    • Identify and drive reporting automation, improvement opportunities and new capabilities / tools
    • Be on the lookout for technology best practices and advocate for them
    • Help BI Lead build highly complex queries; be a data access optimization guru
    • Be an advocate for data governance, security, privacy, quality and retention

    What We Look For

    • Strong sense of ownership, intellectual curiosity and an ability to think creatively and critically and thrive in a fast-paced, dynamic, and often ambiguous work environment
    • 5+ years of experience with database design, architecture and modeling techniques in cloud data warehouses (i.e. Snowflake) and data engineering using ETL tools (i.e. DataBricks, Fivetran)
    • Expert-level working knowledge of dbt, SQL and Python required; including:
    • Experience writing clean, computationally efficient code involving ETL processes and data manipulation via dbt, SQL, and Python
    • Comfort with production level IDEs (e.g., Visual Studio), interactive IDEs (e.g., Databricks), and Version Control (e.g., git, specifically GitHub)
    • Experience using standard Python analysis packages (e.g., SciPy, NumPy, Pandas)
    • Experience with the following preferred:
    • Snowflake databases & dashboards
    • Workato, Fivetran, or similar integration platforms
    • Agile methodologies
    • Finance and accounting data and processes
    • NetSuite or similar ERP tool
    • Custom data application development using Python or similar language
