Test Engineering Manager (Performance & Resiliency)

About the project

We are looking for a Senior Test Engineering Manager for a large‑scale payment processing system used across the Nordic region.

The project involves ensuring the performance, scalability, and reliability of a fully containerized platform handling card, online, and file‑based transactions. The role includes hands‑on ownership of non‑functional testing (performance, stress, soak, HA/DR, chaos), as well as working across technologies such as Angular, Java, Oracle, MongoDB, Kafka, Docker, Kubernetes, and Jenkins. The platform currently operates on‑prem and is prepared for a future cloud migration.

Work mode: Warsaw (hybrid, 1 or 2 times a month) 

Responisibilities

• Full‑stack non‑functional testing (NFT): test strategy, planning, design, coordination, execution, and reporting.

• Designing and optimizing test tools.

• Disaster recovery (DR), high availability (HA), chaos, stress, and soak testing.

• Performance testing across various layers (REST, ISO8583, batch, clearing files, etc.)

• Deep experience with web services (RESTful, gRPC) and enterprise integrations.

• Building and maintaining CI/CD pipelines using Jenkins (Pipeline), GitHub, Maven, and NuGet.

• Experience with cloud‑native platforms and container orchestration: Kubernetes, OpenShift, Google Cloud, OC CLI, kubectl, Kustomize (transition to Helm).

• Familiarity with Git branching strategies and large‑scale DevOps collaboration.

Reqirements

• Strong technical background (min. 8 years) and ability to operate in a hands‑on engineering role.

• Proven experience working with large, distributed, high‑volume systems (preferably financial or other mission‑critical platforms).

• Deep understanding of non‑functional aspects of complex systems: performance, scalability, resilience, and observability.

• Solid experience with containerized environments and modern infrastructure tooling (Docker, Kubernetes, Jenkins).

• Ability to troubleshoot issues across multiple layers of the stack (application, integration, infrastructure, network, data).

• Strong experience with CI/CD practices and working in environments with multiple teams and complex release processes.

• Ability to work independently as the technical point of escalation / last line of defense.

• Strong analytical skills and a pragmatic approach to diagnosing performance bottlenecks and system failures.

• Ability to create and maintain technical standards, documentation, and testing frameworks for non‑functional areas.

• Very good communication skills and the ability to explain complex technical issues in a clear, structured way.
