Senior Java Software Engineer (Kafka)

About the Project

Currently we are looking for Senior Java Developer with Kafka who will join a team working on projects from logistics industry. The project involves migrating the main IT system to a new, distributed cloud architecture.

Work Mode: hybrid from office in Gdansk (2-3 days/week), remote work is also an option

Job Responsibilities

• Design and implement a reliable, scalable Central Messaging Platform leveraging Apache Kafka, fully aligned with enterprise architecture standards to support the organization’s changing requirements

• Create and maintain additional features and components for the Kafka-based solution

• Contribute to the deployment and management of the cloud infrastructure supporting the Messaging Platform

• Establish and maintain resilience and disaster recovery mechanisms

• Develop comprehensive monitoring tools and solutions for the Kafka ecosystem

• Manage and optimize the Kafka Messaging Platform and its cloud environment to ensure high performance

• Resolve complex incidents and technical issues to maintain system stability and reliability

• Collaborate with product teams to ensure best practices and smooth platform integration

• Deliver and maintain detailed documentation and support tools for operational teams

Expectations

• Min. 5 years of experience on a similar position

• In-depth knowledge and hands-on experience in developing (JVM) and managing Apache Kafka-based solutions

• Experience in Java development of cloud-native applications, preferably on AWS

• Familiarity with key Apache Kafka components such as Kafka Streams, Kafka Connect, and Schema Registry

• Knowledge of data serialization formats and schema management, including Avro, Protobuf, and JSON

• Strong understanding of asynchronous message processing, event-driven architecture, and asynchronous communication patterns

• Experience in implementing monitoring and observability tools such as Grafana Stack, Elastic Stack, and similar solutions

• Proficiency in using Git for version control

• Readiness to support Kafka-based solutions in a 24/7 production environment

• English on an advanced level (written and spoken)
