Senior Data Engineer (Python/AWS)

Job Responsibilities

1. Create and maintain optimal data pipeline architecture
2. Assemble large and complex data sets that meet functional and non-functional business requirements
3. Identify, design, and implement internal process improvements: automation of manual processes, optimization of data delivery, re-architecture for scalability, etc.
4. Build and manage ETL infrastructure using SQL and AWS big data technologies (Glue, Lambda, Step Functions, Fargate, RDS)
5. Develop CI/CD pipelines, especially using GitLab and DataOps practices.
6. Model data transformations using dbt (data build tool), including scripting and complex algorithm design
7. Automate and simplify data workflows using Bash, Docker, Python, GitLab, and JIRA
8. Collaborate with product, data, and design teams to resolve data-related technical issues and support their data infrastructure needs
9. Build data tools that enable analytics and data science teams to gain actionable insights (e.g. customer acquisition, operational efficiency, performance KPIs)
10. Ensure data segregation and security across geographic regions using multiple AWS data centers and regions
11. Strive for greater functionality and reliability across our data platforms in cooperation with analytics experts

Expectations

1. 5+ years of experience in data engineering, or similar role
2. Strong programming skills in Python with a focus on data processing and automation
3. Solid experience with ETL design and implementation
4. Proficiency with AWS services, including but not limited to: S3, Lambda, Glue, Step Functions, Fargate, and RDS
5. Hands-on experience with CI/CD tools and practices, especially GitLab and DataOps
6. Proven experience with dbt
7. Strong SQL skills and experience working with relational databases
8. Familiarity with automation and scripting tools (Bash, Docker, JIRA)
9. Ability to collaborate effectively in cross-functional, international teams
10. Sc., B.Eng. (or higher) in Computer Science, Data Engineering or related fields
11. Excellent verbal and written communication skills (in English and Polish)

Nice to have

1. Previous experience in supply chain analytics or related domains
2. Knowledge of data security best practices and data residency compliance (e.g., handling data across multiple AWS regions)
