Role Overview
Join a strong platform team and evolve a large Terraform codebase into clean, test-driven infrastructure while re-imagining how we build, test and ship code. Your first mission is to audit and standardise our Terraform modules, then lead the redesign of our CI/CD workflows—shaping the successor to today’s Drone + Starlark pipelines. You’ll keep ArgoCD and GitOps humming, run Google Cloud securely and cost-effectively, surface the right metrics in Prometheus and Grafana, and mentor teammates so every system ends up simpler than you found it.
What you’ll own
Terraform evolution – audit modules, add tests & drift-detection, codify a golden path.
CI/CD redesign – benchmark Drone + Starlark, shortlist new tools, pilot and roll out the winner.
GitOps & ArgoCD – keep releases smooth, upgrade safely, enforce policy-as-code.
Google Cloud – run GKE, VPCs, IAM and secrets; drive cost & SLO visibility.
Vault & security – automate secret rotation, integrate apps and pipelines.
Observability – own Prometheus / Grafana alerts and dashboards.
Mentoring – pair, review PRs, grow 3–4 DevOps peers.
Must-have
4 + years in DevOps / SRE / Cloud roles.
Deep Terraform experience.
Production GitOps / ArgoCD.
Strong Kubernetes (GKE preferred; multi-cluster a plus).
Advanced CI/CD skills (any modern tool).
Hands-on Vault, Prometheus, Grafana.
Coding in Python, Go or Node.js.
Fluent English & mentoring mindset.
Nice to have
CI migration story (Jenkins → Drone, GitHub Actions, etc.).
GKE cost-optimisation, service mesh, or policy-as-code.
MySQL / PostgreSQL ops.
GCP Professional, CKA or CKS certifications.
How we work
Remote-first, async-friendly. Slack is our main communication hub; most collaboration happens in threads and PRs.
Time-zone sweet spot: we plan for GMT ± 2 overlap so pairing and incident calls are easy.
Daily async stand-up: a quick Geekbot check-in on Slack—no video call required.
Weekly progress call: 30-45 min to review Atlas goals, surface blockers and plan next steps.
Kick-off sessions on demand: short ad-hoc meetings when a new task or epic starts.
Fortnightly goal update: every two weeks we refresh Atlas so everyone sees real-time status and outcomes.
