About the product
The Point of Sale (POS) system for the hospitality industry. It’s a successful, mature, constantly improved, live product available on the German market for 10 years. The system consists of iOS & Android apps as well as Merchant Portal & Back Office.
About the role
We are looking for a generalist who is not bound to a single technology. Python
knowledge and experience is required as it will be crucial for understanding existing parts of the system and developing new features. Openness to dig into the Java codebase to understand the logic of selected Java-based services will be an additional advantage.

As a Senior Backend Engineer, you will be responsible for the design and development of the backend microservices of the system utilizing Python & Java. You will be joining a team of experienced engineers closely cooperating with the Frontend, DevOps, Product and Customer Support teams.
Expectations
- 5+ years of professional experience in Python
- Willingness to read and understand Java code if necessary
- Strong experience developing APIs and microservices architecture
- Ability to make design decisions that will result in correct, scalable, reliable, and performant system
- Experience with Scrum / Agile environment
- Be open and willing to learn from mistakes
- Fluent English
- Willingness to travel to the client’s HQ in Berlin for team get-togethers happening every month (post-covid-19)
