Job description

Volvo Group IT in Wrocław is looking for a candidate for a position of  Manager UX/UI Development

Shared IT Services

Shared IT Services is a large, global supporting unit within Group IT (several thousand employees and contractors), with staff on all larger Group IT locations. The mission of the unit is to manage and develop a set of competence centers and staff functions as well as a global IT consulting organization essential to ensure the overall efficiency of Volvo Group IT.
 
Development and Runtime Support

Is a cross Group IT function responsible for L3 Process, Methods and Tools, Development Practice and Frameworks used in IT Service/Solution Development and Runtime deliveries.  The department is also responsible for Group IT internal information management, Service Office, IT Asset management, VPS4IT competence center.
 
Development Platforms & Tools

The main objective of the function is to ensure availability and support for methods, processes and tools for the main IT development platforms at Volvo and support efficient application development. The platforms in scope are .NET, Mobile, Java EE, SharePoint, SAP development, BI, IBMi, Mainframe and general development tools. The function is providing Instructor Led Trainings, Guidelines and Coaching in the relevant areas.

Assigment description:
As Manager UX/UI Development in a team working with Development Platforms and Tool you have a key role in driving efficiency in and development of your development platform area, ensure that Group IT identifies appropriate IT solutions to required business needs and supply that working solution as quickly and efficiently as possible. You are responsible for supporting application development community, by providing Introduction Presentations, Instructor Led Trainings, Guidelines and Coaching. In this role you will be reporting to the Manager Development Platforms and Tools. You will be responsible for the methods and tools supporting the User eXperience and User Interface development area. As Manager UX/UI Development you will lead the activities in this area and also be contributor in team’s deliveries.

Key responsibilities:

  • Develop User Experience Methods and tool strategy  for Volvo Group IT
  • Creating and managing the strategic roadmap and plans to deliver tactical improvements to support the services and solutions managed by group IT
  • Evangelise and instil a clear vision for design principles across Group IT
  • Support User Experience projects that exceed expectations by  collaborating with key stakeholders to understand and support solution and services, advocating user centred design industry best practices and effectively managing team resources
  • Monitoring and reviewing metrics with the digital and product teams to drive change.
  • Work with senior stakeholders to ensure that we become a design-infused organisation, that we are building products the right way and to encourage the on-going development and maturity of the User Experience discipline.
  • Coach and mentor a strong team of UX & UI professionals.
  • Continually monitor and improve the capabilities, tools and processes used by the team and ensure we have documented best practice across all areas.
  • Implementing a culture of continuous improvement.
  • Offering advice and consultation as the Subject Matter Expert in UX and UI for key stakeholders.
  • Leading the development of user insight and behavioural analysis.
  • Lead, motivate and develop the UX and UI Team
  • Planning and executing Instructor lead trainings
  • Responsible for Budget follow up
  • Secure and follow up quality in services delivered
  • Secure compliance to common way of working
  • Lead and drive Practitioner Community in order to ensure best practice sharing

As the Manager UX/UI Development you should have experience in leading teams, knowledge about UX or UI is required as well. You are expected to create a trustful relationship with your stakeholders. You need to demonstrate core values according to the Volvo Values. Required competencies:
  • Experience in the area of application development
  • Genuine interest for developing and coaching people
  • Experience from leading in a global context, cross cultural awareness and skills
  • Excellent communication & presentation skills are required
  • Relevant university degree
  • Complete proficiency in English is a requirement
