ABOUT VOLT

Volt is driving the real-time payments revolution. We’ve created a single point of access to domestic, disparate open payments schemes – enabling businesses around the world to receive direct, account-to-account payments from their customers, in real time.

We already offer unrivalled bank connectivity – and superior transaction speed, security and resilience – but we’re only just getting started. Having secured a record $23.5 million in Series A funding, we’ve got huge product development and expansion ambitions.

Join us on our journey to supercharge real-time payments – everywhere.

About the role

As a Frontend Software Engineer you will work across the user-facing development lifecycle, building leading edge disruptive financial technology solutions. The role presents an exciting opportunity to join an agile team of talented software engineers, working to drive best practice across all projects to deliver our vision of world class customer centricity.

Key Responsibilities

  • Develop front-end software applications using your extensive knowledge of HTML, CSS and the latest JavaScript frameworks (React, Svelte)
  • Participate in software design meetings and analyse user needs to determine technical requirements
  • Write efficient, reusable and maintainable code, whilst adhering to coding standards
  • Use of modern frameworks to make the optimum solution that fits the requirements
  • Test and maintain these software products to ensure continuing strong functionality
  • Recommend improvements to existing software packages
  • Manage time appropriately and clearly communicate changes in effort or scope
  • Contribute to documentation where required
  • Maintain a high awareness of industry issues and trends

Competencies and Experience

  • You have at least 2-3 years of experience in developing web applications,
  • You have in-depth knowledge of the latest frameworks (Angular/Vue/React/Svelte) and its ecosystems and you would like to expand your further experience in React or Svelte,
  • If you would like to focus on React, we expect you to have practical experience of state and side effects management patterns and solutions (e.g. Redux, Redux Toolkit, Redux-Saga),
  • If you would like to to focus on working with Svelte but you haven’t had experience in that field yet, knowing VanillaJS or Vue would be a huge asset,
  • You have experience with TypeScript,
  • You have experience working in an Agile, CI/CD environment,
  • You are focused on delivering a quality product using best practices,
  • You have excellent analytical, problem-solving, and technical troubleshooting skills,
  • You have experience collaborating on software projects with design and backend aspects,
  • You have a strong eye for compelling visual and user-centered design,
  • You are comfortable working in a fast-paced environment and can adapt to changing requirements,
  • You possess strong communication skills, ability to explain your decisions to the team in written and spoken English,
  • Prior experience with Fintech products is more than welcomed.

WHY WORK WITH VOLT?

  • In 2021, we secured $23.5 million in Series A funding – a record in the open banking space. We’re going places – fast,
  • We’re building new, game-changing tech that’s evolving at lightning speed. It’s energising to be part of,
  • We’ve brought together big names from the likes of Adyen, Klarna and IFX. Their expertise and enthusiasm is infectious,
  • We champion ‘extreme ownership’ – being not just the owner of your own tasks, but a key member of a team united by, and accountable for, common goals,
  • Our culture is rooted in ambition. Discover what it’s like to work for a start-up on the cusp of achieving something big,
  • We’re aiming to create the perfect balance between remote and office-based work; we want an environment you can thrive in.
