Job Description

Visa is recruiting a Sr. Consultant Software Engineer for Global Token Services team to bring creative thinking and innovation to the testing of our key products. The candidate will be responsible for design and implementation of enterprise software for the tokenization platform. The candidate should be able to coordinate and manage input from business and technology stakeholders across the enterprise and be responsible for the design and execution of large-scale enterprise technology initiatives.

The role is a self-organized Senior Software Engineer with solid JAVA, J2EE, E-COMMERCE and web service development experience. In this position, you are first and foremost a passionate and talented developer that can work in a dynamic environment as a member of Agile Scrum teams. This requires strong technology skills, problem solving abilities, coding, testing, and debugging skills just a start. You must be dedicated to filling product backlog and delivering production-ready code. You must be willing to go beyond the routine and prepared to do a little bit of everything and work effectively with product managers, program managers, architects, service integrators and cross-functional teams across the globe is required. You will be supporting initiatives that span across multiple geographies enabling acceptance of Visa in consumer payments, enabling new form factors and drive cross border acceptance.

As a key member of the development team, the candidate should be comfortable with driving technical ideas and communicating clearly with technical as well as non-technical audiences.

This position is based in Warsaw, Poland and will report to the Director of Product Development.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

• Engage in technical design of solution that is based on use cases and business requirements

• Complete proof of concepts and other technical evaluations of technologies, designs, and solutions

• Drive the development, review, and approval of technical designs, code reviews, and other engineering deliverables in accordance with established standards and best practices.

• Use AI tools to improve development speed, quality, and efficiency, and coach peers on integrating them into everyday engineering workflows.

• Effectively interact with internal teams to develop solutions to complex technical issues on highly visible business opportunities

• Analyze current solution architecture & design and propose solutions that increase business value, optimize performance and enhance quality

• Adhere and contribute to best practices, guidelines, standards and procedures guidelines

• Communicate and present complex technical concepts for peer

• Mentoring other developers

• Ensures inclusion of Visa’s business vision, current business environment (internally and externally) and technology and industry trends to enable results that drive Visa’s business

Qualifications

QUALIFICATIONS

Basic

• 10 years of Software development work experience with a bachelor’s degree or at least 8 years of work experience with an Advanced Degree (e.g. Masters)

Preferred

• Bachelor degree in a technical field such as computer science, computer engineering or related field required. MS or other related advanced degree preferred.

• Typically requires 10+ years of experience in application services development for large scale systems

• Experience with web services standards and related technologies (HTTP, HTTP2, Spring, XML, JSON, REST, WS*, AXIS, JERSEY).

• Expert in Java with experience in REST APIs, distributed systems, and exposure to container-based technologies.

• Experience leveraging AI tools to enhance development efficiency, improve workflows, and mentor peers on effective usage.

• Experience with messaging systems like Kafka.

• Solid understanding of database technologies and SQL.

• Exposure to Non-SQL database technologies

• Proven problem-solving skills and an ability to respond resourcefully to new demands, priorities, and challenges

• Strong work ethic to focus on organizational goals.

• Proven experience as a technical leader with ability to understand the requirements and independently, architect, design and build the solution.

• Passion to work with people and help mentor team to reach new heights.

• Excellent verbal, written and listening communication skills

• An understanding of end-end system and strong debugging and root cause analysis skills to help support production systems.

• Preferred Experience in payments integration and / or online ecommerce shopping and / or Payment gateways.
