YOU AND YOUR TEAM

The Digital User Experience team are responsible for the delivery of customer-facing campaigns to ensure that users of Thomson Reuters Financial & Risk products get maximum value from their product through the use of training. The role of Web Developer is responsible for the development and maintenance of websites and tools needed to deliver and manage on-demand and live training events.

WHY IS THIS JOB IMPORTANT?

The Web Developer creates and maintains a range of web based, self-serve solutions enabling customers to access training and support for Financial and Risk products. These include websites, Apps available directly within Thomson Reuters products, video and media players. The developer drives and participates in design, development, testing, and deployment, ensuring that solutions are aligned with the overall user experience strategy.  The incumbent collaborates closely with different areas of the business including training, marketing operations, and platform development teams.  The websites and apps allow the firm to serve our clients quality training and support that is available anytime, anywhere, and in a cost efficient manner.

SOME OF DAILY TASKS YOU WILL PERFORM:

  • Write well designed PHP code following industry best practices
  • Maintain and enhance existing sites and apps
  • Develop and deploy new features and tools
  • Troubleshoot, test and maintain products and associated databases to ensure optimal functionality
  • Where applicable, manage end to end project enhancements and collaborate with a variety of stakeholders and business partner groups
  • Continuously build personal knowledge of web development tools and programming languages, Thomson Reuters financial products, and the firm's clients

WHAT DO YOU NEED TO BRING?

  • BS/BA or equivalent work experience developing dynamic websites     
  • Min 3 years commercial experience in PHP
  • Strong JavaScript (JQuery) and CSS
  • Knowledge of relational databases - in particular MySQL
  • Familiarity with MVC architecture                                                                                  
  • Knowledge of developing for servers running RHEL 7
  • Knowledge of Git version control systems
  • Knowledge of deployment tools (in particular Jenkins or Envoyer)
  • Strong design sense
  • Knowledge of developing RESTful web services
  • Must be able to effectively manage multiple projects working independently and collaboratively with a team
