If you already have a few years of experience and are confident in your skills but are the kind of person that like to develop software that really shows how great IT solutions can be and at the same time become even better at development and architecture - then we have the perfect job for you! We offer the right candidate the chance to work closely with our Senior Lead Developer and in the daily creation of great software further enhance your skills.
You will be part of a DevOps team with likeminded developers, where the Senior Lead Developer will support you, whilst you and the team are responsible for designing, developing and maintaining newly automated, reliable and intuitive solutions using the latest technologies. You will, in this role, not just enjoy work but also keep learning more.
The software team is modern in the sense that they support each other to ensure all software that is released makes the company more efficient and profitable and when needed quickly reaches out to the business users or customer engineers to find the most optimal solutions. The role is in the Warsaw DevOps team of the IT & Engineering department at Telia Carrier and the location is Warsaw. The Java Developer reports to the local Team Leader in the Warsaw Telia Carrier office.
The business language across the company is English but the local team speaks Polish.
The main responsibilities are:
- Learn to contribute to the agile development and maintenance in the DevOps team
- Ensure systems and integrations are well tested before UAT
- Ensure your code and design is in line with our architecture and vision
- Demo prototypes to business stakeholders
- Coach other team members in areas you are expert in
The main tasks are:
- Design, develop and test functionality in existing and new systems
- Correct and test defects in existing systems and integrations
- Set up and configure new infrastructure environments when needed
- Learn new things every day
We believe that you have:
- A degree in computer science or other relevant backgrounds
- A few years of work experience in relevant system development
- Solid skills in:
- Development of solutions using Java EE
- Software development, with a focus on back-ends for web applications
- Modern integration technologies like REST or GraphQL
- Hands-on experience of:
- Using Linux and other open-source software (FOSS)
- One or more RDBMS and/or NoSQL data stores
- Setting up complete run-time environments
- Understanding continuous delivery, automatic tests and DevOps way of working
- Greater knowledge or interest in one or more of the following areas:
- Telecom networks
- Application scaling and high availability
- The AWS framework for application deployment
- Container technologies
- Web service design and implementation
- Modern IT security
- GUI design
- Ability to work independently when needed but care about the team
- A passion to explore and learn more
- Good social and interpersonal skills
- We also expect you to be fluent in English, both written and oral
Your personal characteristics
You have very good knowledge of network and IT-system capabilities and drawbacks. You also have a strong interest in the business and how modern IT solutions will enable the business to excel. You are at the same time open for collaboration and sharing knowledge with colleagues that not have the same level of skills and you are inspired by being a mentor to others.
The aim of the IT & Engineering department at Telia Carrier is to deliver amazing software solutions. Amazing, because the business was not aware it was possible and because it helps the company become even better at what we do.
