The company is undergoing a digital transformation programme implementing new and innovative solutions to improve the way we work. An integral part of this transformation is the growing importance of Data as an Asset to promote quality and availability. The development of the Data Lake/Warehouse content as a single source of data for the company is one critical component of this strategy. To support the design, build and roll-out of the Data Lake/Data Warehouse we are recruiting Data Engineers into the Data Management Team. The Data Engineer will develop content in the Data Lake/Data Warehouse for reporting USE Cases or Digital Products data sets.


Responsibilities:

  • Work with the Business stakeholders to understand business requirements for data set creation.
  • Identify and evaluate relevant data sources in collaboration with subject matter experts, IT and business stakeholders.
  • Design and build physical data models based on requirements using a variety of methodologies such as Kimball dimensional design, Data Vault or other.
  • Ensure compliance to company data structuring standards. 
  • Work with Data Governance to map and classify the physical data sets in a Data Governance Tool.
  • Build scalable and robust ETL (Extract Transform Load) pipelines.
  • Create REST APIs that utilize SQL views or queries.
  • Monitor pipelines and data quality.
  • Participate in pilots and proof of concepts to identify new technologies and ways of working for the Data Engineering function.

  • Data Management Analysts/Data Governance: Classification and mapping of the physical assets. 
  • Data Owners/Data Stewards/Business Subject Matter Experts: Understanding and validating the USE Cases.
  • Data Architects/Data Scientists: Ensuring what is built fits with the bigger picture and can be re-used.
  • Technical Product Owners: Understand the data architecture of source systems. 

 

You are meant for this job if:

  • Prior experience as a Data Engineer with 2-4 years’ experience.
  • Experience of working with SQL or related languages.
  • Understanding and experience of different data base design principles.
  • Experience of working in an AGILE environment.
  • Knowledge of CI/CD tools (GitHub, dbt workflow, AWS S3).
  • Interest in data cloud technologies (Snowflake).
  • Educated to degree level in IT or Computing Science or proven experience as a Data Engineer.
  • Excellent communication and facilitation skills and the ability to communicate appropriately at all levels of the organisation.
  • Good project management and change management skills.
  • Keen to work in an international, collaborative environment and with virtual teams.
  • Fluent in English.
  • Nice to have: Power BI.
