Samsung R&D Institute Poland, is looking for experienced IoT Backend Engineer, for the team working on the development of SmartThings platform based on Cloud architecture.

It allows customers to control various types of devices in Home IoT (meters, Home automation devices, sensors, energy management etc.)

The team works on a full process from business analysis through design of architecture, implementation of backend and testing.

We’re looking for a Backend Engineer passionate not only about software development but about gadgets, IoT and smart devices as well, who’ll be mainly responsible for the Cloud to Cloud Integrations with partners and development of very useful tools for the SmartThings platform. You may be the one who makes things a little more connected and a lot smarter.

Role and Responsibilities

• Design and build Cloud to Cloud device integration with SmartThings platform
• Development and maintenance of IoT services and IoT apps
• Participate in code reviews and contribute to the software engineering best practices development

Technologies in use

• Java, Spring-Boot, Java Script, Node.js, Python
• Google Cloud
• AWS (Lambda, setup servers, databases, troubleshooting)
• REST APIs, OAuth 2.0
• GitHub, Jira, Confluence
• Sumo Logic

Skills and Qualifications

• At least 3 years as Java Spring software developer
• At least 1.5 years of experience in: Node.js or in Python development and willingness to learn new things
• Good knowledge of UML
• Knowledge of SQL and NoSQL
• Experience in one of Cloud solutions: AWS, Google Cloud, Azure
• Experience in Cloud to Cloud integrations
• Knowledge of Auth0 technology, REST APIs
• Independent working but within a small team of talented and quality-focused engineers
• Using, functional testing and knowledge of web service tools
• Ability to write clean and high quality code
• Problem solving and critical thinking skills
• Willingness to work with people from different cultures
• Communicative level of English and understand of Polish

Nice to have

• Knowledge of frontend technologies such as React
• Knowledge of IoT and IoT protocols
• Experience in creating solutions for Alexa or Google Home
