Job Summary
We are looking for a Senior Sales Engineer who is both highly technical and can partner with the PubNub sales team to provide prospects and customers with technical guidance, support, and best practices for leveraging PubNub to build flexible and scalable real-time solutions
The preferred candidate should be highly motivated to engage with customers, build relationships with VP & C-level executives, and advise customers on the value of leveraging PubNub for building real-time app solutions such as chat, messaging, notifications, collaboration, or IoT device control.
The qualified candidate should have at least 3 to 6 years of Sales Engineering or similar technical sales experience working with a highly technical solution such as APIs, developer platform or similar cloud solution. The Sales Engineer will work closely with prospects and customers on the initial design and requirements of using PubNub’s SDKs and APIs to build engaging user experiences and surface customer feedback to drive future product development.
Direct responsibility includes:
- Partner in pre-sales calls and on-site meetings to provide technical consulting, initial discovery, project review, design submission, and component implementation.
- Lead technical discovery meetings with prospects and customers to define project requirements, educate customers on how to best use PubNub, and tell a compelling story to articulate the benefits and features of leveraging PubNub to build real-time solutions.
- Document customer technical designs and project requirements to facilitate architecture discussions, drive success with implementations, and inform customers with best practices for building solutions on PubNub.
- Provide technical guidance for customer security and compliance queries, including completing security questionnaires and responding to customer questions around RFPs, HIPAA, SOC2, and GDPR.
- Represent PubNub as an advocate, speaker, and presenter at industry forums, conferences, webinars, and related events.
- Be the voice of your customers — you will gather the nuanced requirements and product feedback from customers to inform PubNub’s product team on product development needs and bridging current product gaps.
Desirable skills, knowledge and experience
- At least 3 years (5+ preferred) of sales engineering or similar technical sales experience talking with customers, product managers, and developers at both a conceptual and highly technical level. You feel comfortable & confident talking to VP’s and C-level executives including CTOs, heads of engineering and product.
- Technical and software experience, such as knowledge of REST and and how to make a CURL request
- High level or detailed knowledge of modern programming languages and frameworks, such as Javascript, Swift, Java/Android, Kotlin, ReactJS, Dart, Python, Ruby, and Objective-C
- Strong written and verbal communication skills for articulating customer needs and collaborating internally with PubNub product and engineering teams.
- Familiarity with consuming web services and SaaS companies using REST API’s and how that workflow works
- Understanding how applications are designed, architected, and built for web and for mobile applications with an insatiable appetite for continuous learning through hands-on work with customers
