Platform Engineer with Python

About the job

We are looking for a Platform Engineer with a strong background in Python and Software Architecture, that will tightly cooperate with Site Reliability Engineers and System Administrators in our Global IT department.

This new role will help us to design and develop internal systems and tooling that automate and converge resources we deliver to internal stakeholders in Opera (like bare-metals, cloud, lodabalancers, geo-DNS, etc.). The candidate will join an interdisciplinary department that provides services for all other Opera engineering teams.

Role & Responsibilities:

• Designing and implementing systems that integrate Opera’s Global IT offering
• Preparing API for authorization and resource creation self-service platform
• Maintaining and improving Opera’s Global IT in-house-developed systems
• Contributing to open source projects used by Opera
• Troubleshooting of complex IT problems
• Providing training to team members and preparing documentation

Job Requirements:

• At least 4 years of relevant software development experience
• Python programming skills
• Experience in microservice software architecture and system integration
• Strong, analytical problem solving with customer service skills
• Experience in maintaining, improving, and troubleshooting of Linux-based IT environments

An Ideal Candidate’s Profile:

• Familiarity with configuration management tools (Ansible, Puppet)
• Virtualization knowledge will be an asset
• Experience with system monitoring tools (eg. Prometheus)
• An understanding of TCP/IP and general knowledge of computer network aspects
• General knowledge of IT system security
• An understanding of server hardware and data center environment management
• Fluency in English
