As an SRE, you will work closely with fellow engineers to ensure systems are built to meet SLOs, and you will oversee the mechanisms required to prove system reliability and durability. Ideal candidates have a thirst for growth and a passion for building ironclad systems.
What you own each and every day:
- Work with Engineering teams to ensure systems meet or have remediation plans to meet SLOs
- Use techniques, such as Chaos Engineering, to prove systems can meet SLOs despite inevitable failures
- Configure and use monitoring to understand system health and guide decision making
- Play a key role in incident management, repair, and analysis
- Prevent recurrence of past problems by participating in blame-free retrospectives with engineers to determine the root cause and a plan to resolve it
- Ensure mechanisms are in place to guarantee data durability
- Keep your skills sharp by staying on top of industry trends and share relevant findings with the broader Engineering team
What you need to be successful:
- Ability to stay calm under pressure
- Production experience operating high volume transactional systems
- Strong background in AWS or other major cloud computing platform
- Experience with Kubernetes is preferred
- An understanding of service-oriented and event-driven architectures, and the operational challenges they bring
- Obsession for problem-solving and intrinsic curiosity and desire to always learn more
- You are a self-starter that can identify opportunities and tackle them
