About the role

We are seeking a dedicated individual for a role that centers around Provet Cloud, our cloud-based veterinary practice management software (https://www.provet.cloud/). Provet Cloud is designed to help veterinary practitioners save time so they can devote more attention to caring for their patients and to make managing a veterinary practice more efficient and simpler. It offers features for appointment scheduling, electronic medical records, inventory management, billing, and communication within the veterinary team.

We’re now looking for a Senior Backend Developer to support our growth and join our Engineering team! Reporting to the Engineering Team Lead, your main goal is to help us to implement and maintain integrations around Provet Cloud, built with the goal of extending features provided by the core application. In this role, you will provide access to partner solutions and adapt workflows to our customers with specific needs.

Your key responsibilities include:

• Implement full stack, serverless solutions for integrations between our core product and external services, including systems for invoicing customers, collecting financial information and sending transactional SMS
• Participate in team activities dedicated to the preparation and planning for the development of microservices
• Develop tools and libraries dedicated to first-and-third parties to allow an easier development of integrations
• Help to standardize the integrations development process
• Work with core development teams to extend the product REST API and integration tools

What will help you to be successful in this role?

Ideally, you have already gained some experience from working in a fast growing, global SaaS company. Maybe you’ve also already worked with multiple, small projects together with teams of only a couple of people?

We are working with projects that can span multiple domains, from laboratory & diagnostic imaging, to transactional communications, to invoicing and finance communications.

You will be working with small services written in PHP and individually deployed in our cloud infrastructure (specifically AWS services like Lambda and ECS), as well as contributing to our core product written in Django to extend its functionalities and ease integration development.

In exchange, this role will give you a position where you can learn and develop new skills every day, as well as the opportunity to closely get to know the veterinary business. You will be able to voice your opinion and see your proposal implemented.

In addition, we humbly request that you have experience or knowledge in:

• development of multiple, small, headless services
• development of cloud-based solutions
• REST API development
• docker and containerization of services
• any object oriented programming language (like Java or C#) OR experience in PHP and the Laravel Framework
• Proficiency in English, written and spoken

Having one or more of these skills will help in succeeding in this role:

• Experience in Python, especially with the Django Framework
• Experience about DevOPS practices (can deploy an HTTP-based backend to a virtual machine or to some cloud system more or less autonomously)
• Experience with AWS services like Lambda, ECS, EKS or App Runner
• Experience working with Agile teams
