We’re looking for a DevOps Engineer who is interested in building the cloud based solutions with a unique opportunity to build 99.999% available systems - yes, this is correct, what the team is building has a window of not being available for about 5 minutes a year. We’ve put tremendous effort into the design and validation of the software with best practices implemented (from code to final environment in ~20 minutes, 24/7 synthetic testing, etc).
The product runs on Azure and AWS cloud infrastructures, processes emergency (911) calls that save lives so we treat it super seriously. The team owns the tech stack, creates pipelines as code, tests automatically and deploys with confidence.
Team Description
- The team consists of strong backend developers along with a local Product Owner who is happy to support the test first approach and experiment where there is something new to learn or improve.
- The dev environment is on your laptop and in the cloud. Deployment is fully automated and coded in Kotlin which creates pipelines, gates software (canary), multiple environments deployment and disaster recovery, also automated. So if you are software developer willing to jump into that role also apply.
- Key part of the role will be working with Observability stack (Kibana, Grafana) to manage the software performance, alerts, costs etc.
- The key to success on the team is willingness to learn and share - we’ve got one day per sprint dedicated to learning of your choice so if you need to ramp up Kotlin skill this is perfect for you.
- The process is based on Scrum and the team tailors it as needed. You choose your own editor and OS (Windows, Mac), the team chooses the tools and technology that gets the results.
- Technologies used in projects are:
- Azure & AWS clouds, Kubernetes/Docker, Java 17, Kotlin, Spring Boot, GitHub, Azure DevOps, ELK Stack + Prometheus/Grafana, Redis, MongoDB, SIP
What we are expecting from you:
- Strong practical experience with implementing software deployment/testing environments
- Outstanding communication skills to share concepts, design and software development practices across the organization (from senior management to mentoring juniors)
- Practical knowledge of Kibana/Grafana, Azure or AWS clouds, Docker
- Familiar with cloud / distributed computing concepts, understanding of cloud concepts
- Programming skills (Java 17 + Spring Boot + Kotlin or other) a major advantage
- Good knowledge of computer networks and protocols
- Service Mesh, Chaos Testing, SIP protocol experience another major plus
