Compute Engineer (Hybrid – Berlin)

We are looking for a skilled Compute Engineer to join our team in Berlin. The ideal candidate will have strong experience in VMware, multi-cloud environments (Azure, GCP, AWS), and scripting (Bash or Python). You will be responsible for building and managing infrastructure, automating systems, and ensuring optimal system performance and backup strategies. Experience with Kubernetes, traditional deployment models, and virtualization is a significant plus.

Key Responsibilities:

• Infrastructure Building:
• Develop and maintain infrastructure for applications across multiple cloud environments.
• Multi-Cloud Operations:
• Operate and manage resources in Azure, GCP, and AWS.
• System Automation:
• Automate system processes using scripting tools like Bash, Python, PowerShell, or Terraform.
• System Monitoring:
• Monitor systems, perform proactive maintenance, and troubleshoot issues using tools like Dynatrace, Splunk, or Datadog.
• Backup and Recovery:
• Create and manage system backups, ensuring disaster recovery preparedness.
• Virtualization:
• Support traditional and advanced virtualization using technologies like VMware.
• Networking Administration:
• Administer DNS, DHCP, NTP, and other server network functionalities.
• Collaborative Rebuilding:
• Rebuild applications in different zones for performance optimization and redundancy.

Required Work Experience:

• Server Environments:
• 3-7 years of experience managing Windows Server environments (preferably Windows Server 2016).
• VMware Expertise:
• Extensive experience managing VMware virtual server environments.
• Cloud Proficiency:
• 1-3 years of experience managing resources in Azure and GCP (provisioning, migration, and support).
• Backup Solutions:
• Experience with tools like CommVault or Veeam.
• Linux Administration:
• Knowledge and experience with Linux systems.

Technical Skills:

• Infrastructure Administration:
• Proficiency in Windows and Linux OS, VMware, and server network management (DNS, Active Directory, etc.).
• Scripting and Automation:
• Hands-on experience with Python, Bash, PowerShell, or Terraform.
• Azure Fundamentals:
• Working knowledge of Azure IAM, networking, and security concepts.
• Observability Tools:
• Experience with tools like Dynatrace, Splunk, LogicMonitor, Datadog, or VMware vRealize.
• Cloud Resource Management:
• Hands-on experience with resource groups, virtual networks, load balancers, and storage in Azure.
• IaC Tools:
• Working knowledge of Infrastructure as Code (e.g., Terraform, Ansible).
• Containerization and CI/CD:
• Familiarity with Docker, Kubernetes, and Jenkins.
