As an AI Engineering Manager, you will combine technical expertise in software development and AI with effective team leadership. You will receive robust support from our VP of Engineering and collaborate closely with three other Engineering Managers, enhancing our dynamic leadership structure.

In your pivotal role, you will lead a talented team of six engineers, guiding them not only in technical tasks but also in their professional growth. As a mentor, you will challenge their ideas and support them in designing solutions and discovering new possibilities. You will be instrumental in implementing cutting-edge AI practices, ensuring our team not only meets but exceeds the technological advancements in our field.

Role requirements

Experience

• Master's or PhD Degree in Computer Science or related technical discipline, with a strong foundation in Python programming, coupled with 6+ years of hands-on technical engineering experience.
• Proven track record of successfully leading engineering and data science teams for a minimum of 3 years, demonstrating the ability to motivate, guide, and mentor team members to achieve project goals.
• Demonstrated expertise in leading AI projects from inception to deployment and maintenance in a production environment, including proficiency in project planning methodologies and driving improvements in Software Development Life Cycle (SDLC) processes.
• Experience in implementing and deploying solutions within the cloud environment (preferably Google Cloud Platform), showcasing the ability to leverage cloud-based tools and services for scalable AI applications.
• Practical experience with privacy standards such as SOC2, ISO, and GDPR, ensuring compliance and data protection throughout SDLC.
• Exceptional verbal and written communication skills, enabling effective collaboration and alignment with cross-functional teams, stakeholders, and leadership.
• Fluency in English with a proficiency at the C1 level, both written and spoken.

• Experience working with Large Language Models and Natural Language Processing
• Experience implementing MLOps best practices
• Familiarity with cloud security best practices

Responsibilities

• Team leadership: Ensure team setups align with long-term objectives and professional growth. Manage team bonding and conflict resolution, regularly assessing productivity and work quality.

• Strategic planning and execution: Lead strategic planning aligning with the company's OKRs, define the technical vision, and ensure product delivery meets core metrics and high performance standards.

• Technical oversight: Conduct thorough code reviews and optimize the software development life cycle (SDLC). Lead audit preparations and ensure compliance with industry standards.

• Cross-collaboration and communication: Cultivate a culture of open collaboration and effective communication, ensuring seamless interactions both within the team and across organizational departments. Drive contributions to broader engineering initiatives and maintain proactive communication with all stakeholders to ensure alignment and transparency.

• Professional development: Support professional development through regular feedback and development plans. Promote a learning culture that fosters courage in decision-making and prioritizes company goals.

• Innovation and technical product management: Encourage innovation through active participation in product discovery. Manage technical ownership, minimize technical debt, and uphold modern engineering practices.
