We are expanding our share dealing and investing offering, building on our core competencies in design, execution and user experience to deliver a market-leading proposition to new and existing IG customers globally. 

We are incubating a new business with dedicated teams operating in a start-up fashion and will deliver a mobile-only experience for retail customers in the investment domain. Reporting to the incubator CTO, this role is part of the Senior Engineering team and you will work alongside peers in mobile and architecture.

Your role in the team 

Join the incubator Senior Engineering team as Technical Team Manager!

Lead teams that are developing on our AWS gateway, build underlying services, and manage the integrations with third parties. This is a unique opportunity that will give the successful candidate a rare experience of owning services and integrations that support our mobile experience and ensure they run seamlessly in Production.

What you will do

In this role, you will:

• Lead the AWS Gateway and Integration teams
• Be accountable for the delivery of the roadmap agreed upon with your Product counterparts
• Ensure that teams engage in the roadmap process and deliver their commitments
• Lead and uphold high standards of modern engineering practices, quality, and attainment
• Be accountable for the quality of service in Production and provide L3 support with their teams
• Where applicable, additionally liaise with the Group to ensure that our delivery is effective and that production support is managed effectively
• Manage the performance of teams and team members

• An experienced Team Lead or Team Manager
• Have worked as a Developer earlier in your career
• Worked in an AWS environment
• Excellent understanding of APIs, Gateway, building Restful services
• Developer evangelist with a focus on effective practices such as pair programming, TDD, CI/CD, etc.
• Enjoy working in fast-paced mission-focussed environments, comfortable with fast-changing priorities
• Ensure production works, all the time.

What you’ll need for this role - must have skills

• Established Team Lead experience or emergent Team Manager
• Broad AWS experience sufficient to collaborate with our Architect and build components effectively, specifically with Serverless technologies. Note, that Kubernetes is not required.
• Experience with most of these AWS components (or significant depth in a few): API Gateway, Lambda, SAM, ECS, EC2, SNS, S3, CloudFront, Dynamo DB, CloudWatch, Kinesis, SQS.
• Experience of DevSecOps concepts
• Experience in Agile development methodologies and release management techniques
• Experience using telemetry and observability to troubleshoot production issues
