Market Securities & Services (MSS) is the “investment bank” for HSBC. The Global Foreign Exchange (GFX) business is a key component within HSBC’s MSS division.  Our businesses generate millions of transactions across a range of financial markets. Our IT teams design and develop modern systems covering all aspects - trading in the markets, sales and customer tools, handling transactions and building financial and regulatory reporting.

Join us to work with talents from different geographical locations in the world class Global FX Calculations team to develop, improve and maintain the bank's own solution and platform for post-trading risk and PnL calculation which plays a critical role in trader's day-to-day activity and the bank's fulfilling to regulatory requirements.

What you’ll do

• Work with project team to perform end-to-end delivery of the project by finishing the assigned task within agreed timeframe and quality, including requirement analysis, coding, testing (manually and automated), releasing, documenting and defect fixing with required visibility.
• Deliver detailed design specification for the project development such as data model, interfacing and performance and elaborates the details to the team.
• Production support and incident reaction as part of the global team.
• Take ownership of system component, or initiative of proof-of-concept, problem resolving or performance tuning, and support other team members in the owning expertise area.
• Participate and contribute in team's solution design, problem investigation and design / code review with alternative solution, perspective and idea.
• Participate and support team’s events / activities and helps in team’s continuous improvements in delivery productivity, collaboration and visibility.

What you need to have to succeed in this role

• 5+ years’ experience in Java back-end development with HTTPS, RESTful API, micro-services and MQ.
• Good sense and experience in high-availability service architecture.
• Good experience in SQL and at least one mainstream database (preferably in Postgres SQL), with basic knowledge in database performance.
• Experience of owning or leading the delivery a Java-based service / module.
• Good communication skills enabling efficient discussion, meeting facilitation and presentation while proficient in English.
• Strong analytical thinking and problem-solving capability.
• A faster learner with curiosity and passion in technology, who keeps updating his/her knowledge and has his/her own technical expertise area(s)
• Ability to effectively work collaboratively and manage competing priorities.
