The Lead Business Architecture is a key position in the Global Business Architecture team reporting to the Global Head of Business Architecture Strategy and Engagement. The role will focus on embedding business architecture across the group. They are responsible for ensuring that business design, change and improvement throughout the organization is aligned to the Business Architecture Framework and that we achieve the best possible outcomes for our customers and stakeholders.


The Lead Business Architect will be responsible for driving and building our Business Architecture practice by providing leadership, direction and guidance to the Business Architecture community and other areas of the business to ensure alignment to the Business Architecture Framework.


What you’ll do

  • Work with the Head of Global Business Architecture to evolve and maintain a solid, value adding Business Architecture practice. Provide guidance and definition of business architecture to effectively support business strategy.
  • Introduce new business architecture practices, processes, operating models, techniques, products, services, technologies, and standards where needed against identified use cases, via the appropriate governance bodies. 
  • Works closely with Heads of Business Architecture and enterprise architects to ensure that services, capabilities, and processes adhere to business architecture standards and will support business strategy and deliver desired business outcomes.
  • Support the development and evolutions of the target operating model; ensure the target business capabilities are defined and in place to deliver the HSBC business strategy.
  • Apply and utilize business modelling methods to help identify gaps in organisation’s services, capabilities, and processes.
  • Develop and deliver Business Architecture related training, advice, sharing across the HSBC Business Architecture Practice 
  • Participate in Business Architecture governance to ensure plans are in line with business strategy and adheres to Business Architecture design principles and standards.
  • Influence and collaborate with data and technology architecture teams to incorporate business architecture principles and design patterns to increase consistency and operability across the Group. 
  • Line management of business architecture team, responsibilities will include recruitment, performance management, 1-to-1 meetings, identifying and delivering training needs, motivating, and enabling a culture of recognition and delivering with impact.


What you need to have to succeed in this role

  • Proven experience (5-7) years in business architecture, business process management or related field, preferably in the financial services industry.
  • Solid understanding of business architecture concepts and best practices with the ability to be an advocate for leveraging enterprise business capability framework to deliver business value. 
  • Architecture / Business Design and analysis modelling techniques, tools, and standard development.
  • Understanding of the creation and maintenance of business process models aligned with Group Business Architecture standards. 
  • Experience using model-based representations that can be adjusted as required to collect, aggregate, or disaggregate complex and conflicting information about the business.
  • The ability to visualise and create high-level models that can be used in future analysis to extend and mature the business architecture.
  • Experience modelling business capabilities and processes using a variety of tools and techniques.
  • Team player able to work effectively at all levels of an organization with the ability to influence others to move toward consensus.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively at all organisational levels.
