We are a global function of over 2,500 people, and are part of the wider CTO organisation. We serve all of HSBC and its customers.

We work in partnership with the Infrastructure Architecture Function to set the vision and roadmap for all technologies across CTO and to deliver service designs in support of business IT programmes. 

We are supporting a critical infrastructure in the payments and security services sector. Therefore, we are working in daytime shifts from 7 AM until 7 PM to serve our customers from start to finish of the business day and cover overnight on calls to ensure end of day and overnight processes are running safely.

Additionally, maintenance and changes over the weekend are part of the job.

What you’ll do

• Platform services, where we securely store and analyse customer and transaction data in accordance with compliance and standards. This includes technologies such as Mainframes, UNIX and Linux servers, iSeries (Mid-range), Windows and Storage. As well as technologies such as Java application servers, databases and messaging services. 
• Developer Services which allow our customers faster delivery of highly standardised platform services, for example, Virtualisation, ALM, Dev Engineering, GSDE, private cloud 
• We also run some important programmes, most notably, our Service Change Lifecycle Programme, will be delivering benefits in the way we work with the business to estimate, plan and deliver the work effectively.

What you need to have to succeed in this role

• Excellent knowledge of DB2 LUW on RedHat Linux systems covering:

Database setup/configuration, backup/restore, patching, database, upgrades/downgrades, performance tuning, corresponding client software connections, z/OS to LUW; Database - and data migration; Monitoring, alerting

Cross loads, JCL ISPF, IWS Scheduler; Bash and SQL scripting including github, rpmbuild

• Team player in an international team
• Good knowledge of English (written and spoken)
• Principles of service requests / incident / change / problem management
• Well structured and disciplined way of working to support daily operations
• Knowledge/experience working with collaboration tools (Jira, Confluence)

Nice to have

• REXX, Broadcom CA Tools for utilities or Toad for database admin for DB2 
• Knowledge of German language (spoken and written) would be a plus
• Puppet, Ansible, Jira, Agile skills
