Currently for our client, international information technology consultancy firm we are looking for someone to fulfil PostgreSQL Administrator position.

Job Responsibilities:

• Adhering to SLAs
• Helping team members in case of Issues/Technical Problems
• Handling tickets / requests, Troubleshooting technical issues
• Ensuring that the processes are adhered to
• Responsible for successful completion of Installation, configuration and migration
• Ensure maximum uptime according to the SLA
• Improves and maintains customer and employee satisfaction
• Implementing new technologies and design changes
• Build, manage and maintain PostgreSQL database servers in all environments
• Design and implement redundancy and fail-over strategies. Enterprise DB Failover cluster and other high availability technologies. Real scenario disaster recovery planning, testing and documentation
• Monitor and tune database performance. Should have very good knowledge of PostgreSQL configuration settings and their impacts.
• Security hardening at OS layer and Database Instance layer. Data encryption at Rest and in transition by different means.
• Design and implement backup/restoration strategies per data retention requirements. Define,Test and document the Disaster scenarios.
• Provide support for software upgrade and patching. Should be able to automate patching.
• Provide insight to team leadership regarding best practices for PostgreSQL
• Diagnose and resolve production issues

Job Requirements:

• Development experience with one or more modern scripting/automation languages (Ansible,Shell, etc.)
• Experience with database performance, scaling, clustering, and tuning concepts
• Experience administering other RDBMS database technologies (e.g. MariaDB, MySQL,Percona etc.) will be added advantage.
• Ability to quickly learn new database technologies that the team supports
• Strong interpersonal, problem solving, facilitation, and prioritization skills
• Strong technical acumen, able to ensure that technical solutions, strategies, practices, and governance deliver business and customer value.
