About the role:
Learning new things and knowing the theory behind them isn’t worth it if you don’t create applications using them. As a Developer advocate, the least you can do is to put yourself in the end developer’s shoes by mastering the product and the platform you are advocating for. This is the moment where your engineering skills will be useful.
Building real-world applications with the tools you are advocating for will also help you better understand their limitations and hopefully suggest some improvements to the engineering team. The job of a Developer Advocate is to also make sure the platform and tools you advocate to provide the best developer experience.

The ability to “share” information with the developers’ community is an essential part of the Developer Advocate role. Developer Advocate loves to share and help others.
Responsibilities:
- Create product guides and how-tos for our platform
- Create great workflow examples/templates that people can learn and get inspiration from
- Promote the usage of new features and best practices
- Build relationships with developers, share information, and collect feedback
- Create thought leadership and hands-on blog content
- Produce a video podcast with guests/outside contributors
- Launch a meetup program around easier IT automation
- Act as a liaison between company and the developer community
- Be attentive to questions both from internal and external sources, answer questions, and get deeper assistance internally when needed
- Monitor Stack Overflow, Quora, Dev.to, Reddit feeds for relevant discussions to contribute to
- Enmesh yourself in the right developer communities
- Identify speaking and content opportunities, and execute on them
- Post interesting content and start conversions on social media
- Stay abreast of industry trends
- Measure success and drive decisions with data
Requirements:
- You know what makes developers tick and you excel at sharing your knowledge with them
- You can create content that conveys the value of our product, identify exciting use cases, write and teach about our product and its ecosystem of plugins (AWS, Terraform, Github, etc), and inspire and connect with developers
- You are a developer with a DevOps background, but have a marketing mind in the best sense of the word: you know how to spread the word and convey a message in a way that’s authentic, compelling, and useful to the audience
