Principal / Lead Cartographer- Hybrid/ Remote

What's the role?

Team:

We are a small cross-functional team of passionate cartographers and designers taking care of the map look & feel for various HERE products. Beyond styling our work touches on data analysis, compilation, rendering & design. The mix of design & engineering is unique and excites & challenges us every day. We’d be happy to share this with you!

Create advanced map design & map rendering solutions, including:

• Map data analysis and Benchmarking
• Map design concept creation
• Syncing with peer teams & contacts to make sure market / use case requirements are understood & met
• Gather requirements & define deliverables for map content, map compilation, rendering & design teams
• Design implementation with constant feedback loops with local expert teams
• Challenge development teams for visual or quality improvements

Who are you?

• Passion for cartography, eye for design & strong aesthetic sense
• Ability & willingness to think deeply about map rendering (incl 3D) & apply designs to technical possibilities & limitations
• Ability to implement styling & mapping with code
• Open minded & visionary thinking for future concepts, new technical capabilities, and challenges
• Drive for excellence and comfort working independently with little supervision

Your experience

• Bachelor/Master in Cartography, Geography, GIS or related field
• +8 years’ experience in digital mapping
• Experience with Mapbox
• Experience with Adobe Creative Suite and Figma
• Jira / Agile / Gitlab
• Fluent in English, both written and spoken

Would be a plus

• Understanding of vector tiles and JSON
• Experience in Blender
