Lead Backend Developer

HappyCow, a global platform assisting people in making conscious, kind, and healthy food choices, is seeking a Backend PHP Developer to join our dynamic and collaborative team. Our platform lists hundreds of thousands of vegan-friendly restaurants and stores worldwide.

We are seeking a PHP Developer who is passionate about developing scalable web applications and eager to bring innovative solutions to our global platform.

Your Responsibilities:

• Develop and maintain the backend of our web applications.
• Work closely with our frontend team to design and implement APIs.
• Participate in the deployment and management of server hosting in cloud environments.
• Stay up-to-date with new technology trends and coding standards.
• Contribute ideas for new features and improvements to our platform’s architecture and infrastructure.

Requirements:

• 3+ years of experience in backend development with a solid foundation in PHP
• Proficient with Linux, PHP, JavaScript, HTML5, CSS, MVC, MySQL/MariaDB
• Comfortable with git
• Experience with the Phalcon web framework (or other PHP/web frameworks)
• Experience with AWS services such as EC2, S3, Lambda, API Gateway, Cloudfront
• Experience with Stripe integration
• Experience with HA web services and DB replication
• Experience with ManticoreSearch, RabbitMQ, PHPUnit, RESTful API design and development
• Fluent in English with excellent communication skills
• Self-reliant and able to set up your dev environment with minimal support
• Able to dive into and learn new and different technologies

Nice to Haves:

• A personal commitment to veganism or vegetarianism for ethical reasons
• Experience with additional databases (e.g., PostgreSQL) and Google Services.
• A keen interest in modern software development practices and technologies.
