The Data Integration Designer is a key role that working with the Data & Analytics team and Director, Domain Architect will contribute to next-generation data strategy, technical data solutions architecture and development and implementation of new data integration capabilities through the adoption of new technologies in support of delivering across therapeutic/capability areas of responsibility. He/she will play a pivotal role in the design, build & integration of the data eco structure across all emerging technologies and cutting-edge data and analytics solutions within Vx.
In this key role, you will be accountable for data integration designs and patterns across Vx Tech product teams align to GSK strategy and standards.
Responsibilities include the following:
- Support the Vx Tech Director, Domain Architect in delivering Data Integration services to Vx Tech & the Vx Business with a focus on analysis and design of the data integration requirements.
- Develop/Apply design patterns to meet the diverse need of data/information use
- Design extensible data acquisition and integration solutions to meet functional and non-functional business requirements. Solutions must consider various data formats (structured, unstructured, semi), storage needs (SQL, NoSQL, etc.) & consumption needs to optimize the total cost of ownership; where appropriate these should use API-based integration patterns.
- The role will support the enforcement and implementation of the right architecture standards, with an emphasis on improving the completeness and accuracy of the information we use to ensure one version of the truth
- Track exceptions to standards and target data architectures and drive their remediation.
- Optimise data integration platforms to provide optimal performance under increasing data volume ensuring delivery of high quality and optimum performance of data integration systems to meet business requirements
- Conduct reviews of broader data integration efforts in Vx Tech to ensure consistent methodologies are followed & influence recommendations where necessary.
- Develop and maintain reference integration architecture for Vx Tech.
- Collaborate with other Tech groups across GSK to ensure Vx Tech integrated solutions and future strategies (e.g. GSK ‘One’ Tech, Cloud Strategy) are compatible and converge on current & future design paradigms
- Work with users of data with superb communication skills to influence decisions. Effectively explain technical concepts at all levels in the organisation, including senior managers/partners
- Lead discussions at peer review and use quantitative skills to positively influence decision making

Basic Qualifications:
We are looking for engineers with these required skills to achieve our goals:
- Computer science or similar subject area or equivalent experience, with weighting on experience and proven track record, preferred.
- Proficient in following competencies
- Good understanding of integration paradigms: streaming, messaging, ETL, Virtualization, real time, batch mode, REST API
- Integration design & technology platforms/frameworks
- Experience with data modeling and distributed data architecture concepts
- Knowledge of agile and DevOps development methodology
- Experience in integration and computing technologies like Kafka, Streamsets, Talend, SAP PI/PO, Denodo, Spark, DataBricks, Azure DW/Synapse, KONG API gateway etc.
- Hands-on experience in one or more programming languages like java, python, c#, etc.
- Familiarity with ETL, data pipeline development, and data cleansing with large-scale, complex datasets
- A demonstrable ability to work within teams effectively to provide a solid focus on collaboration, teamwork, and delivery
- Demonstrated skills in integration design for hybrid cloud and complex system landscape.
- Customer focus and excellent problem-solving skills.
Preferred Qualifications:
If you have the following characteristics/knowledge, it would be a plus:
- SAP PI/PO and other Middleware technologies.
- Containerization (Docker) and Orchestration (Kubernetes)
- SOA design patterns
- Pharma and/or Vaccine business domain knowledge
- Understanding of Regulatory GxP standards and system requirements.
- Experience deploying metadata and data lineage solutions in a large enterprise
- Knowledge of external & internal standard methodologies relevant to aligned process area & products being supported
- (e.g. Manufacturing, Research & Development, Supply Chain, Commercial Operations, etc.)
