    Job description

Technical Program Manager, Infrastructure Storage, Google Cloud

    About the job

A problem isn’t truly solved until it’s solved for all. That’s why Googlers build products that help create opportunities for everyone, whether down the street or across the globe. As a Technical Program Manager at Google, you’ll use your technical expertise to lead complex, multi-disciplinary projects from start to finish. You’ll work with stakeholders to plan requirements, identify risks, manage project schedules, and communicate clearly with cross-functional partners across the company. You're equally comfortable explaining your team's analyses and recommendations to executives as you are discussing the technical tradeoffs in product development with engineers.

Our goal is to build a Google that looks like the world around us — and we want Googlers to stay and grow when they join us. As part of our efforts to build a Google for everyone, we build diversity, equity, and inclusion into our work and we aim to cultivate a sense of belonging throughout the company.

Standing at the intersection of Google's storage hardware infrastructure and the software stack that allocates and maintains the data in it, the Infrastructure Storage Technical Program Management team manages a portfolio of technically complex projects that will ensure Google can continue to scale its mission to "organize the world's information and make it universally accessible and useful." We are a growing team of entrepreneurial Technical Program Managers who work closely with our Engineering, Finance, and Technical Program Management counterparts on projects as diverse as determining the pricing for various layers of the stack, to determining the composition and deployment path for the next generation of storage machines.

Google Cloud accelerates every organization’s ability to digitally transform its business and industry. We deliver enterprise-grade solutions that leverage Google’s cutting-edge technology, and tools that help developers build more sustainably. Customers in more than 200 countries and territories turn to Google Cloud as their trusted partner to enable growth and solve their most critical business problems.

    Responsibilities:

    • Provide software development and project management, cross-functional coordination, and inter/intra team communications to deliver outstanding program outcomes.
    • Work closely with Software Engineers, QA, Product Managers, and other Engineering teams to get high-quality products and features through the software project lifecycle (i.e., build, test and release on time).
    • Manage project schedules, identify possible issues, and clearly communicate them to project stakeholders.
    • Manage complex projects with multiple stakeholder teams independently, including leading a team of vendor partners.

    Minimum qualifications:

    • Bachelor's degree or equivalent practical experience.
    • 5 years of experience in program management.
    • Experience with the Software Development Lifecycle (SDLC), and with software development or test engineering, including scripting, debugging, and implementation.

    Preferred qualifications:

    • Master’s degree or PhD in Engineering, Computer Science, or other related technical field, or equivalent practical experience.
    • 5 years of experience managing cross-functional or cross-team projects.
    • 5 years of experience in software engineering, software infrastructure engineering, security, big data and analytics, or cloud networking.
    • Experience in cloud infrastructure and deployment.
    • Experience with compute technologies, storage, or hardware architecture.

    Benefits:

    • Health and Wellbeing (Medical, dental, and vision insurance for employees and dependents)
    • Financial wellbeing (Competitive compensation, regular bonus and equity refresh opportunities)
    • Flexibility and time off (Paid time off, including vacation, bereavement, jury duty, sick leave, parental leave, disability, and holidays)
    • Family support and care (Fertility and growing family support, parental leave and baby bonding leave)
    • Community and personal development (Educational reimbursement)
    • Googley extras (Inspiring spaces to work, recharge, and collaborate with fellow Googlers)
