Minimum qualifications:

• Bachelor's degree or equivalent practical experience.

• 2 years of experience with software development in one or more programming languages, or 1 year of experience with an advanced degree.

• 2 years of experience building and shipping technical products in a cloud environment.

• 2 years of experience with data structures or algorithms.

Preferred qualifications:

• Master's degree or PhD degree in Computer Science, Artificial Intelligence, Machine Learning, or related technical field.

• 2 years of experience in applied Artificial Intelligence with AI frameworks.

The Google Cloud AI Research team addresses AI challenges motivated by Google Cloud’s mission of bringing AI to tech, healthcare, finance, retail and many other industries. We work on a range of unique problems focused on research topics that maximize scientific and real-world impact and share findings with the research community. We also collaborate with product teams to bring innovations to real-world impact that benefits our customers.

Responsibilities

• Design, develop, and deploy production-level AI agents focused on cloud cost management within Google Cloud Platform.

• Write clean and well-tested code for the core components of the AI framework, including systems that report cost drivers, recommend savings strategies, and forecast the impact of optimizations.

• Lead and participate in design reviews with peers and stakeholders to select appropriate technologies for building AI-driven recommendation and forecasting systems.

• Collaborate with Product Managers, UX Designers, and fellow engineers to translate the needs of Developers, Platform Engineers, and their partners into AI-powered features.

• Triage, debug, and resolve complex issues within the AI cost optimization systems, analyzing root causes and their impact on service operations and quality.
